I usually do buy my strings in bulk online, but my truss rod needed to be adjusted, and I have to take the neck off to do that, and I was out. BTW, I went to that store to grab something in the closest gauge 11-49, I look at the rack behind the counter, and there are the strings I called for in the first place, so they did have them. I hate calling GC, of Daddy's in the northeast, they suck over the phone, can never answer any questions about whats in stock, you get there, and they cant answer any questions in person either.

all you need to do is loosen your strings and put a capo on the first fret. Hey presto no need for the strings to come off.

I buy all my strings on-line now, the price is usually cheaper than stores anyways.

Same here.

I went to stringsandbeyond.com. I was looking for the GHS David Gilmour strings just to try them and really ended up liking them. Its a really unique gauge but unfortunately not one single local store stocked them.

Who do you think makes and packages Fender strings for them? I never thought much about that

Well, I thought Fender was one of the manufacturers that does indeed make its own strings - isn't that right?

Back in the late '60s they bought up a string making company that went by the name of... V C Squier (in Michigan, if memory serves). Which is how they came by that name, with its odd spelling.

Whether that is still where their strings are made or not - that I don't know. Come to think of it, haven't we heard of the strings now being made in the Mexican plant? Or did I imagine that?

Cheers - C

I have read about them buying the Squier string company but I thought that was more for the name. You know how we all have seen factory pictures of amps and guitars in production but I do not recall ever seeing strings. I thought they may out source that production.
