Great guitar!!
Nitro finish on body, satin nitro on a very thick neck. If you like a big neck go for it.

Hello Pts295,

Firstly welcome to the Forum.

I have owned my '62 Hotrod for about a year now.
Great guitar, always rock steady, never needs neck adjusting
due no doubt from it's large size, which is comfortable for me.
Some folks don't like the neck. It's got a 9.5 radius on a quite dark
rosewood fretboard with 21 {not 22} med jumbo frets.
Headstock has neat vintage tuning machines.

Super duper sound comes out of this guitar, I gotta believe
it's the pickups and other electrickery. What role the big neck
and thinskin nitroclad body play, I have no opinion.
The switch is 5 position with rev wound/revpolarity middle pickup.

Mine is Olympic white although I always wanted a Sherwood green one.
I like the sunburst too but yet I ended up with white {go figure}.
Comes packed in a G&G brown case w/ orange lining sometimes
poodle sometimes vintage.{mines poodle}

As you guess I like mine alot and am glad I got it.
Best of luck on your choice.

Here is a photo next to a blonde 60th commemorative{cased}.
I have finally taken the plastic & tiny sticker off the pickguard.

Cheers.

Hi there, some guy is selling me also a hot rod 62 strat. I like the pups and the nitro finish but I´m not sure about the radius of the neck. Is it really that thick? I mean, can you tell a big difference from an american standard neck and is it hard to play fast on a neck like that? I play mostly rock and blues.

I believe Nikininja has one. From what he has reported, he loves it. You may want to check his backlog of post to find some discussions he had involving the HR. Nikininja is one of the most knowledgeable members on this forum so I would listen to what that fellow says my friend. Mr. Bill is also a very respected member, so listen to what he says as well. He's a very knowledable guy. From what I've heard both from mouth and from the guitar itself it is a very desireable guitar. If Obama would get this economy moving where we could be confident it won't collapse again in 10months I would buy a nice new '57 reissue Stratocaster.

Rather than starting another thread, i thought i would bump this one to ask a question.

The spec of the 62 Hot rod is very appealing to me (neck and body finish, fat neck, bridge tone control etc..), but can someone, preferably an owner, talk to me about the pups, perhaps confirm that they're reasonably low output/underwound? This is what i have read elsewhere. If so, i'm guessing they get a vintage vibe to them.

To put it in perspective, i have CS '69 pups in my current strat (a MIM sonic blue CP 60) which are low output and they sound lovely, defined and articulate, not middy etc). When i bought it, i compared it to a HWY1, but i found those pups less inspiring, so i opted for the CP 60. The CP 60 has a real thin neck though.

Thanks in advance. :)
