I asked Fender for this when this forum started, thought it was time to ask again.

Surf Green body
Modern C 9.5" radius all maple neck. (small headstock)
single ply white guard
Vintage wound pickups
Vintage style bridge (made in the USA please)

Come on, I'll buy it I promise !!!!!!!

Anyone else hear want a S/G Strat with a modern neck ?????

I would only expect a responce from fender if this thread had a few thousand people saying they were interested.

I know one thing anything surf green and fender is the hottest thing going on e-bay.

I've tried to build my own using a mighty mite body and a Fender neck, lets just say it didn't work out.

any way they can count on me posting one time every year till it happens.

I would even be happy with a Hwy-1 set up as long as it had a small headstock.

The new necks killed that group of guitars for me.

Yes!

Mind you, what you describe is simply this with a contemporary neck, isn't it?

http://www.fender.com/products//search. ... 0100102857

So buy that, then find someone with a modern Strat who wants a vintage V-neck and swap 'em out, right?

Whatever - I love those original custom colors. Be delighted to see them on more instruments than just the reissues...

Cheers - C

Ya Ceri thats the deal.

But I just want to pick it up off the shelf and buy it.

again I tried the whole frankenstrat thing and it just does not work for me.

I have a USA hwy-1 neck laying around , however it wouls have to be re-drilled and I really don't do the wood working thing.

Give me a soldering iron and I can make sparks fly, give me wood tools and I'll be short fingers and it will never look right again.

About 5 years ago, there was a '50s Stratocaster MIM which was darned close to what you describe, produced. Maybe not exactly but close enough for this picker.

t hangs in the music room and is a great pal.

So very close, however I can't deal with the vintage tiny frets or the crazy neck radius.

I would gladly take a standard MIM in Surf Green with an all maple neck.

even the stock necks would work fine, the MIM standard Strats are great and it would be a great platform to build a stud of a Rocking 50's guitar.

Just please give us a moder spec neck on the darn thing !!!!!

I'm in for that Bluesbondsman. I would also like to see it in daphne blue and fiesta red with the maple neck. I know about the the limited edition MIAs out there now but I'm not keen on the rosewood or the matching headstock. Much too easy to chip the finish on the headstock and you must be ultra careful on the truss rod adjustment. :(
