I saw a special edition MIM Standard Strat HSS with a sienna sunburst finish at the local Guitar Center. (I mentioned this in a thread awhile ago but for some reason I keep going back to look at that Strat..) I’m pretty sure “special edition” just refers to a unique finish – the pickups look stock and the headstock is the same as the ’08 MIM standard Strats that have MIM on the front of the headstock.

The grain looked pretty impressive which leads me to believe it isn’t an alder body. Is the sienna sunburst finish always done on ash (as opposed to alder) or some other type of wood?

From what I have read on this forum in the past, the sienna sunburst does come with an ash body. That was on the mia strat, but I think it is the same for a mim.

Pretty sure the Am Dlx is always ash on sienna sunburst finishes. What a beautiful, exquisite guitar...!
