Ok, I just did some searching in google, but having a hard time finding anything definitive on this. Is there a way to convert a threaded trem block on a MIM Standard to accept a pop-in arm? If so, how?

Also, I'm considering getting the trem block upgrade from CG. That block is threaded like USA blocks are. So, is there a way to covert those threads?

Thanks!

I would imagine you could... but why? Do you just need to have a pop-in arm or do you have a problem with the standard one not staying in place?

Well here you go... the push-in arms are held in place by a spring and detent. You could drill and tap a small hole at the right depth so that the notch in the arm is held in. I think the diameter of the arm is different than a MIM standard so you may have to also drill out the hole.

I don't think I would recommend buying a Callaham block just to drill it out to rig it for a Deluxe pop-in arm.

No, I don't NEED it. I just would rather have a pop in and wondering what it would take.

Thanks for the answers!

Wilkinson makes a pop-in tremolo. Check out the Guitar Fetish web site.

If you want a pop-in arm then buy a Callaham Bridge and block.

I will probably go the Callaham route anyway, but they have a 'virtual' pop-in arm. That's fine. I just thought there might be some sort of conversion adapter or something like that.

Speaking of Callaham, I was thinking of just getting the block and not the bridge. I don't really care for the bent steel saddles. It doesn't seem to me that they sell just the block and bridge minus the saddles. I'll contact them and see if I can work something out.

Hi Andy: that's exactly why Callaham will sell you the block on it's own, so's you can keep your existing plate and saddles.

However, as you say, that Callaham MIM upgrade block has the "virtual" pop-in arm - which is a weird misnomer, because it's just a screw-in arm with a shorter thread.

I can't find Fender Deluxe Strat blocks for sale anywhere on their own, and in any case I believe it wouldn't fit to a MIM trem plate. So that's a non-starter.

The alternative is to fit a new bridge that has the right saddles, block and arm. I think this is the item for the job:

However: you must check the spacing of your six mounting screws to be sure. That Wilkinson is 56 mm, center to center of the outer of the six screws. MIMs have been produced with two different screw spacings on them, and I don't have the knowledge to be sure which yours might be. So measure to be certain.

Good luck - C

Not sure what you mean by bent saddles.
