Hi guys. Hopefully someone will be able to help me with a little query regarding the trem on my Classic Player 60s Strat.

The trem was set-up perfectly from the shop with no issues whatsoever. When I did a complete string set change however (same gauge different brand - Fender to D'Addario) I noticed I was starting to get some fret buzz when I played higher up the neck especially when bending the 5th and 6th strings. After getting a guitar tech to look at it for me he advised that the action of the tremolo unit had sunk somewhat as it would seem that the D'Addario strings have less tension than their Fender counterparts.

My issue therefore is the best way to raise the action of the trem. I have no desire to change the set-up just increase the angle of the bridge slightly. Is the best way to achieve this by pulling on the arm and tightening the pivot posts or is it better to loosen the tension in the springs in the tremolo cavity?

Thanks for the advice in advance!

The latter is not only the best way, it's the only way. :)

Just for future reference, the vintage-style trem and the two-point trem are two different things.... vintage style is held down with six screws, the two point rocks on two posts in the guitar face.

Thanks for the help.

As far as the trem goes the name of the model confused the hell out of me. It seems you either get vintage trems or 2 point trems but the spec of the classic player 60s strat from fender's own website says "Vintage Style 2-Point Synchronized Tremolo with Stamped Steel Saddles"

So work that one out! It certainly had me scratching my head! Perhaps it's a hybrid or maybe the website needs correcting!

Well, looking at the guitar and the specs, I guess that's their way of saying "A modern two-point trem with vintage style saddles." It is a hybrid, of sorts.... I just never looked that close before.

The adjustment is the same either way... just loosen up your springs in the back til you get where you want.

Yeh just popped into the local guitar store to ask the guitar tech in there for a quick appraisal on the situation. In hindsight should've asked a few more questions!

Done the adjustment on the springs now but it hasn't sorted out the issue. Still not fretting cleanly on the higher register string bends. Gonna take it back to the place of purchase to get someone to have a proper look at it.

Thanks for the help anyway!
