I bought a 2009 MIM in Candy Apple Red in June with the sole purpose of putting the S-1 switching system and SCN's in. I finally got all the parts in and wired it up today. This was the first time I had done a wiring job myself and I had a blast. It sounds really great!

My next step is to put locking tuners and Graph Tech saddles on it.

Its another branch in the music business to be involved in and can be fun. Learning to solder and wire things right and trouble shoot are enjoyable. I can open up a amp and just start looking for a problem and time flys.

Come see my marshall combo. I was trying to bias it with a multimeter lastweek. Its impossible to get a reading anywhere near the same on any 2 of the 4 power valves. Somethings going on with it, cos i can get the head balanced no sweat.

I reckon you could loose a good month staring at that thing.

Hi andyreich: you have my respect. I'm OK at rewiring and soldering. But when I first took the lid off my S1 equiped Strat I took one look at that little widget on the bottom of the switch and decided that one was a bridge too far for me.

I wonder where you found a wiring diagram for your work?

Also, you didn't take photos as you went along by any chance? If you did, care to post them?

Cheers - C

Ceri,

I apologize that I did not take photos during the process. It really didn't enter my mind. Obviously, I wish I could have now.

I got the wiring diagram on this site. I just used the Amercian Deluxe Upgrade. It was pretty straightforward, and I just took my time. It did take over 3 1/2 hours, but it really was worth it in the end.

If you have any specific questions about the job, I could help you out.

Hi again, andyreich. Like this diagram, for instance?

http://www.fender.com/support/diagrams/ ... 02APg2.pdf

OK then, that's fine. Though the reason I asked is that the S1 can give many different options, depending how it is hooked up. But I've never seen a diagram that explains those options - which is frustrating.

And working out the circuit board for myself is way beyond my miniature talents!

Cheers - C

Yes, that's the one. I did see somewhere on the web that there is a more preferred wiring amongst Strat users for the S-1, but I could never find that diagram.
