I know of two which were basically the same guitar but one had gold harware and one did not. They might of made a custom shop model but I am not sure on that .

The american standard had a choice of gold or chrome hardware.
The deluxe anniversary was gold hardware with a inscribed neckplate.
The CS guitar was a 54NOS with tweed champ amp called the george fullerton tribute.
There was even a mexican model, never seen one though.
Not all 04's were commemorative anniversary models

Im bidding on a 96 50th anniversary to match my deluxe.

I dont know where to find the specifications of each 50th Anniversary Strat, but in general, they were basically the same guitar as the base models plus some fancy medallions and logos.

For example, the 50th Anniversary American Deluxe was basically an American Deluxe with a medallion and some decals. There may have been one or two extras, finishings maybe. But it didnt stray too much from the core model.
Somewhat true.I know the American Series had the stock model with the medallions and they had the one with the 2 tone sunburst , custom shop pickups and a tweed HSC.

96 50th anniversary?? Do you mean a 2006 50th anniversary? But, didn't the 50th anniversay come out on 2004?

I think the Fender 50th was in 96, but the Strats 50th was in 2004.Just too many anniversaries to keep track of.Most men cant even remember their own, how are we supposed to remember Fenders?

They came out with the ones that had an oval 50th anniv. 1996 inlay at the 12th fret.I remember seeing those.

96 was the 50th anni of fender
04 50th of the strat
06 60th of fender.
Seems like any excuse for a anniversary at this company. God knows what it must be like when someone gets married.

Why no tele anniversaries? After all thats the guitar that started it all.

On a side note. I was reading a recent interview with Sonny Landreth. His upcoming signature/artist series strat has the 6saddle tele bridge. Looks interesting.

I'm old school...I liked it when the only choice you had to make was the finish and fretboard....

....and for $349 you got a nice guitar with a G&G case.

Huh I was never lucky enough to see those days in my guitar playing life. The earliest i can remember was a US strat for £500, and that was a rarity.

In 1994 Fender celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Strat. They only made 1954 and numbered them on the back of the headstock ( 1 of 1954 etc.)

The strats were made to be as close to the originals as possible and had really fat necks, ash body, 2 tone.

They were made so well many assumed they were custom shops but they were not. I have one and it is an unbelievable guitar.

2 cases: a reproduction of the brown molded case that the strats originally came with and a hard shell molded Fender case with a plaque stuck on the case that said 40th Anniversary of the Stratocaster.

If you can find one, as I said above, fantastic guitar.

2004 Fender came out with 3 50th Anniv. strats. All strats made in 2004 got the 50th Strat neck plate. People try to use this as a selling point saying it's a 50th Anniv. strat. Technically true.

But there were only 3 special 50th USA strats (and 1 mexican strat in gold)

1. Standard American Strat with 54 pickups, delta tone knob. Fender rectangle case w/50th logo sewn in. Has the 50th neck plate

2. American Deluxe strat. Gold hardware. the 50th neck plate is not a square but is curved to allow great upper fret reach and is in gold. Same rectangular case as above. Has a 50th laser etching on the pickguard that is really cheesy and not of much value except that it separates out the deluxe from the standard.

3. Custom Shop. Master built. Exact replica of the 54 strat. 2 cases: the original brown moded case w/50th logo sewn in and the regular Fender molded case (cheaped out here, no special plaque like in 96). Closet classic finish (checks in finish). I am looking for a used one at a good price.

I have the American Deluxe 50th and it's really nice.

The 1996 Strat is a great lower cost solution to the Master Built CS.
