I have a 50s Road Worn Strat. The bridge floats nearly a quarter of an inch off the body.

The guitar is staying in tune with no problems and I really like the sound when I use the palm of my hand and press down on the bridge to make tremelo type sounds

Anyone think my bridge is lifting too high?

I once spoke with Fender and they said the guitar was made for the floating tremelo and you should have no problems.

Hi strat56brownie: official Fender spec for a floating trem is 1/8 inch between the back of the plate and the body.

But in his Forum here Mike Eldred of the Custom Shop said Jeff Beck has his set much higher for dramatic up-bends. If it's good enough for him, and yours is working OK for you - then I guess it's good, right?

Cheers - C

Jeff Beck has his trem set to pull up from E to F# on the open high E. I set my guitars to pull up from open G to Bb, thats roughly 1/4".
I dont find it too high at all, my string height is below fender recommendations. So its not interfering with that.

my RW 50s strat just plays so well that i don't want to change anything.

don't fix it if it's not broke is what i'm saying.
