Hello,
Wondered if you would give me a bit of advice. I have a used US Strat in mind, plays well etc etc. It is Artic White (I think), maple neck and tortoiseshell pick guard and the same for the plate at the back but should I be able to see the dark grain of the wood through the paint? It is a 2000 Corona apparently (the serial no on the neck says it is)

Cheers

if i'm understanding you correctly i would have to tell you that for the model you are describing the alder wood has little grain and what grain it does have is not very prominent. also on the am std the paint is very thick so you would be able to see even prominent wood grain. if you have any more questions feel free to ask. hope i helped.

Arctic White is a solid color, so no grain visible.

Thanks for your quick replies. The wood grain is not fine and is visible through the paint on the front only behind the bridge(?). It could be wear from playing over the last seven years I suppose but I was specifically told by the seller that is hasn't been played much. This worried me so I think I may pass on it. The search goes on...

I have noticed that on my Eric Clapton (2001) Strat has the same thing. I wouldn't worry about it too much. If the guitar plays well and sounds great then who cares.

Good luck.
