I was in my local GC, with my stuff and preparing for the King of the Blues contest, and this guy came in with a near mint '62 RI.

he sold it to GC, and of course, I asked what the used price would be...

699.99

want to know what year it was (I love how GC doesn't check this stuff)

an '89!

Pictures will come soon.

here is an example of the color (not mine, but shows what color it is - Ocean Turquoise)

Damn that's good... there's actually a '62 RI in exactly the same shade (same year, too, I think) selling not far from me for AUD $3,000. That's US $2,475. It's overpriced (like most guitars in Australia), but still... that's a great deal you got there, by any measure. Nice to be able to pounce on these things when they turn up!

[edit] I just took a look at the website of the guitar dealer near me, and someone recently bought that particular guitar at that price. Nice find! You could probably flip it for a good profit, but it's sweeter to hang on to such things...

nice score! There are some advantages to dealing with the standard "music professionals" at GC.

Wow...so my 89 57' RI Fiesta Red Strat is worth $2000+?? Back in 89, I paid about $650 with the fender vintage tweed case for it at my local GC. I wonder how much my 77 les paul goldtop standard is going for?

hence why I wanted to take it off your hands so bad! I'll leave you alone about it now I have my '62. but yea, the '57 and '62RIs have skyrocketed in value lately, especially custom colors like Fiesta Red, CAR, Sonic Blue, Surf Green, and Ocean Turquoise. Hold on to that sucker, man!

an example:

a '89 Mary Kaye '57RI:

3,000!

Chanman,

She is a beauty!! She looks like a virgin, untouched at all. Compared to My Fiesta Red, mine looks like she has been around a few times.

This one of the themes and variations I'd have Krause do for me: 21 fret EC neck and medium jumbo frets plus the EMG DG-20 prewired pickguard in it. The moto guard with the creme colored plastic would be totally...........
