Costwise it will not be cheap. A original floyd runs around 200 new these days, the pickups prob 200 altogether, figure hardware cost (tuners, pots, etc...) prob 150, and for the wood, it all depends on the quality and whether it's used or not. So I would say in the neighborhood of 1000 dollars, maybe less, probably more when all is said and done with.
First may I ask, are you experienced at assembly/setup/wiring the whole process? If not, you should probably start out on something cheap like a squier, because there will be mistakes and your wallet shouldn't suffer for it. Better screwing up a $20 body than a $200 dollar body.

You could always go for a left handed Highway one (600), do the pup swap, switch the trem to your floyd, switch the pickups, knobs, switch etc. Prob if you did it yourself the total cost would be around 1100, if you paid a tech to do the work prob 1300 or something in that price range. Plus it would say Fender on it when all is said and done. Only flaw in this plan is they don't have a HW1 in white >_>

*phew* that was a lotta post, hopefully I helped a little >_>

The job will be pretty pricey. The floyd and install alone with the necessary routing will be a lot in itself. The wiring will be complicated due to the fact that the blackout is active and the others are passive, not necessarily hard to do but deffinately takes a bit of work.

I would suggest what was previously suggested. Start with a squier guitar or cheap fender, and make necessary changes as you go. For example if you by a white HSS body squier and then put the pickups in it first, then the neck and the floyd at the same time and keep going as funds become available. Either way it'll be a pretty penny to get built, the duncans alone will run a few hundred.

While I am a big fan of fender, I also love Jackson. So if your price range allows it may I suggest a left handed SL-1 soloist in snow white ($2k, doh >_>). It would satisfy your every need except the specific pickups (Though the stock pups are very nice Seymours, they probably wouldn't need changing) and it wouldn't say Fender on it. Just a harmless lil thought I'm floating out there you don't have to pay attention to it if you don't want to ^^

If you are looking for this check out St Louis Craigslist ..There is a MIM Strat forsale with a lefty neck righty body H.S.S in olympic white ..He also has a left handed vintage tremolo converted to right handed except that the tremolo arm is at the top of the body instead of the bottom...He wants $250 for the guitar and lives about 5 miles from me..Im not sure what he has for pickups in the guitar i don't remember..

The price could really vary depending on whether you bought Fender parts (either MIA or MIM) or Warmoth or USACG parts or ...

'Zactly.

So let's try. The most challenging part would be finding a white Strat body routed for a Floyd Rose - unless you have Warmoth make one for you, which will be high quality and expensive.

Hey though, here's one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Strat-Guitar-Bo ... dZViewItem

So:

Body - $125
Neck - $205 ( http://www.wdmusic.com/strat_neck_maple_left_hand.html )
Black Floyd Rose - $268 for a good one ( http://www.wdmusic.com/floyd_rose_tremolos.html )
Mid price non locking black tuners - $66 ( http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tuners/Guit ... hines.html )
Strap buttons - $4.50 ( http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Hardware,_p ... ttons.html )
SD blackout - $90 ( http://www.samedaymusic.com/product--SEMAHB1 )
SD cool rail - $76 ( http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/ ... D=26021447 )
SD hot rail - $76 ( http://www.activemusician.com/item--EM. ... te+(SHR-1n) )
Pickguard - $22 ( http://www.wdmusic.com/pickguard_stq_200.html )
Backplate - $11 ( http://www.wdmusic.com/fender_strat_bac ... stb_1.html )
Electrics - $26.50 ( http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics ... aster.html )
Knobs - $6 ( http://www.wdmusic.com/strat_knob_set_black.html )
Nut - $33 ( http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Nuts,_saddl ... t_Set.html )

Total - $1009

I probably left something out, but that gets you in the ballpark.

Now I think I need to go lie down. Exhausting work, this Forum, ain't it?

Cheers - C

Is it easy or hard, you ask? That depends on your skill level putting a guitar together and wiring it.

It's not that complicate, and nothing is that "difficult" but it does take a little time and patience to do it the right way. If you've done it before, worked on guitars before, and know how to wire things and solder then, you should be good. If this is your first time doing all that, you may want to have someone help you along the way.

Haha - no worries at all, but thanks, adey!

Just kinda thought that if I simply named a price then there'd be pages of posts disagreeing and saying it would cost more or less. So I started checking and before you knew it...

I was having a quiet morning.

As all_thumbs09 has already pointed out, I didn't work hard trying to find the best prices: if I was doing that project myself I'd spend days comparing specs and sellers for each individual part.

It's all good clean fun. :D

Cheers - C

Yes, nice job, ceri.

I guess you are not afraid of Google.

You seem to be more curious about it than the original poster.

That's a pretty reasonable bottom line.

Hmmm, now what did that doubleneck cost me?

No intent to slight your efforts here Ceri. I only knew the price on the Floyd because I ordered one a few weeks back. I'd say all in all your estimate is still accurate within $100-150 either way.

Why locking tuners and a floyd. Thats just silly. Locking tuners were never designed to do the job of a locking nut. The tuning stability of a floyd comes down to the string being locked at saddle and nut. The string doesnt go through the body like a normal trem and when that nut is clamped down you can cut the string between nut and tuner, it wont drop in pitch.

If your not going to use the locking nut put a 2 point fender trem on it. It will do everything a floyd without locking nut will including going wildly out of tune after a few bombs and squeals.
