There is a beautiful Daphne Blue guitar on ebay marketed as a Clapton Strat. But the body is a Warmoth with some mods, and the neck is from a Clapton.

Is it a Warmder or a Fendoth? Should it be marketed as a Clapton? She really is a nice guitar, but what's the pedigree?

If he is marketing it as a Clapton Strat then he is deceiving everyone. It's clearly not even a genuine Fender.

Must agree with 357 mag ...If it is being called a Clapton Strat then he is being less then truthful..The seller isn't flat $@! lying by saying it is Fender Clapton signature model.. But he is most definitely try to twist the wording around to put that thought in a potential buyers mind...
Im sure that it is a great playing and sounding guitar as i have had a few partscasters with warmoth necks that were excellent playing and sounding guitars...But a partscaster is a partscaster no matter how much the parts cost..
IMHO if the guitar doesn't have both Fender body and neck it isn't a Fender..

http://cgi.ebay.com/One-of-a-kind-Fende ... 070wt_1165

i wouldn't buy that ...

only the neck and pickup's are real. maybe the tremolo but it looks way to new for a 97.

The soldering job isn't pro

he does say the body is new. the circuit board looks like he bought it off ebay...

for US$1,429.00 you could build a better strat..

listen to this above.

Too much money for all the aftermarket parts.Even the pickups, while Fender, aren't what an EC would have had back then. I think he bought a bunch of second hand parts, and threw together a partscaster. With minimal skill you should be able to do the same, for a fair bit less money.

Get a used EC Strat for less than $1200, swap the body, and voila! You can even save a bit when selling the original body...

It should be worded as

Warmonger! Do you know something about the Warmoth company that the rest of us don't?

Is Warmoth part of the military industrial complex? I didn't know that!

My blue doubleneck's body was made by Warmoth, by the way (2 yrs ago).

That said, I'd take a Warmoth body any day over a Fender one.

My personal opinion would be to put aside the whole "THIS IS NOT ORIGINAL OMG CHEAAAATERR!" and think like what some of the guys here have already said. I have no personal experience with Warmoth parts but I've read some good reviews about them. I've also seen bad Fenders (yes some were American made) so this whole "original complete Fender" might not mean top quality afterall. Not dissing fender or anything, but I wouldn't completely disregard the guitar only on the basis of it not being a fully authentic Fender.

And yes, he is being deceiving if he's marketing it as an EC strat. But then again, he DID mention that it's got a Warmoth body.

One last thing, a guitar's body is the easiest thing to make. So if the neck is a real EC neck then you've got yourself an 80% Fender strat. The pickups can always be resoldered properly and the electronics cleaned up. If the body is of good quality wood and it looks well done, why not? Provided it's priced normally, and since I've got little experience with buying Fenders and having read what the other posters said, you could get the real deal for less than that, so why bother?

Just my 2c.

That's the real bottom line. I'd give you 5c for it, in fact.
