Ceri,

Nice guitar. Here's wishing you many many hours of enjoyment with it.

The pickups don't look like the "Original '57/'62" pickups found in the MIA Vintage Reissues. Can you measure them for us, Ceri?

Wow, Ceri ... youre really causing trouble tonight .... American made pickups in a Japanese Strat?

It seems the whole line of Fender Japan either have MIA pickups or DiMarzios (where are they made?).

Nice guitar! You know, it looks just like my 1989 57' Strat reissue pictured in the far right.

That Sienna burst with a USA floyd rose is an 82 Fender Dan Smith Stratocaster Standard with a Warmouth birdseye neck. I removed the orignal neck because I wanted a compound radius neck and I didn't want to modify the orignal neck. I bought this guitar back in 83 when I graduated from highschool. Would you believe I paid $375 for it with case at GC??? Man times has certainly changed. I do regret modding it now by putting a humbucker and floyd rose, but during the 80s those were the things you did to play 80s metal.

The gibby goldtop next to it is a 1977 les paul standard.

Thursday lunchtime: good 'eavens, is this frivolous little thread still running?

Hi Orville: the pickups measure around 52.5 mm center to center of the outer poles, if that's what you mean. What does that tell you? You're the MIJ expert!

I've already mentioned all else I know about 'em earlier, which ain't much. I'm given to understand they're US made - though goodness knows why.
The Japanese are conspicuously good at electronic stuff: I find it hard to believe winding pickups would present much of a challenge to them.

I'm guessing an "American made" element to their Fenders maybe lends them some sort of authentic vibe in the Japanese home market.
Guinness brewed in Dublin, or whatever...

Cheers - C

You really are a woodworker at heart. I didn't mean a length measurement, I meant the DC resistance! How many K-Ohms?

You have the measure of me and no mistake!

And to be sure, you've never seen me post on the pickups or amps
Forums - I know my limits!

OK: my ears say low output - but that ain't accurate enough for a
numbers guy. I haven't popped the lid on this one yet - and it hasn't
been sitting in a shop getting demo'd so the strings are nice and new.
Gimme a few days...!

Cheers - C

Yes as blerties said that 82 warmouth neck is beautiful, the head stock, have never seen a headstock like that, Fender should do it also.
