Hi everyone: thanks to all for nice words!

BigJay wrote:
Curious to hear you describe how it sounds. Classic quacky or warmer? What does it sound like? Are you matching to a particular amp? If so, why?

Hi Jay: well, it has "American Vintage" pups, which essentially means fairly classic sounding lowish output staggered single coils. As it happens I was offered a very reasonably priced upgrade to Texas Specials, but I already have a set of those so I decided to take it stock and see how it went. And that has worked fine: I can't see a reason to change anything.

Can't tell you any more about those pickups though: magnets or whatever. US made, is all I know. The sound is warm at the neck and early Knopfler on bridge + middle: which is exactly what I was chasing!

The amp, as always, is my Marshall TSL.

***

BTW: I sent Charlie Chandler (owner of the shop) an email thanking him for his efforts, because I have an inkling this order was a bit of a pain behind the scenes. And just this minute I got a reply back - which he signed off "Cheers".

Do you think he knows?

...If you're reading this stuff, Charlie:

Cheers! - C

Wow, Ceri...youre really causing trouble tonight....American made pickups in a Japanese Strat? Uh, oh.....I feel a raging MIA vs. MIJ debate coming on.....LOL.

Only thing I know about the pickups is they're described as "USA Vintage Strat" and carried this sticker:

I can tell you, if a MIA v MIJ debate breaks out here all you'll see of me is the dust of my departing heels!
