Hey Guys- I managed to purchase a Hotrod Deluxe amp on the weekend... It had to be shipped to Auckland as it was the last one at the old price- and it was in wine red instead of black. I must say- you really have to be carefull with the volume on this puppy- for a 40w this thing is loud... I used to have a peavy classic series amp and I wanted the tone of my former amp- with a little more guts- I guess Im saying I didnt realise how much volume you can pull out of this thing- and I only had the volume on 2...

Hello blerties, I play through a hr deluxe and I have never been in an area large enough to crank that thing up to even 6, let alone 10. Great sounding amp. Mine is black, but I have always liked the red ones. Probably would have purchased it in red if it was available, but this was about 9 years ago.
What do you think vin? What amp would you reccomend for personal playing, that could also be used for small gigs etc. I have been thinking about adding a princeton reverb to my gear. I think they have a very refined record quality sound. Any thoughts?

Blerties congratulations mate 40 watts is a great size and very versatile as it allows you to really crank it up in an average hotel and get great natural overdrive. Woody87 first tell me how much your budget is and then I will think of the best value amp for you and also do you want valves or transistor sound.

Hi your lucky woody87 om ebay in the states there is a Peavey valve amp 50/60 watts for about 300 US plus about 50 bucks delivery, I love these amps and they are great value for money and sound almost as good as mesa boogie or my valve vox. Check it out google peavey guitar amplifier I just saw it in ebay.com the usa site where you live its the 50 or 60 watt valve model. Always buy a valve amp it will help you learn and play better you just have to be more gentle when you move them around, they are reliable my vox was serviced with new valves 10 years ago and they are still going.

Blertes the hotrod series all have funny volume controls that tend to max some where between 4 and 7. Changing the pot to a audiotaper relieves it somewhat.
Its what makes the amps seem so loud. They sound way louder on 2 than say even a 50watt marshall for arguments sake.
Enjoy the amp mate.

Good evening friends,
Vinny, thankyou for taking the time to look up amps for me. I should have told you beforehand that I am partial to fender amps. The voicing of a vintage fender is desirable to me. I don't have any use for a real high power amp, but I want a real refined, under 40w fender reissue. Possibly a 65 deluxe reverb or the princeton reverb.

On to the next subject... A neigbor of mine asked me to go to the guitar store with him last night to pick up a squire box package to start learning on. While I was there with him, I naturally drifted to the rack with the MIA's and CS's. I grabbed a candy cola MIa with a maple neck. Wow is all I could say. It was hard to leave without it. I could hear it whispering sweet nothings in my ear, but, my wife was with me, and I decided living was more important then another strat. :?

Thanks Ninja & wood-

Yeah this thing is a brute, but in a bloody good way mate. Before I got it- I was thinking about getting an extension cab later on when I join a band- but now perhaps I dont think Ill need one.. Im still surprised about the volume- I think they should consider toning it down... but on the other side of it- Im glad this thing has b**ls.

Vin, look at a pro jnr, or a peavey classic 20 or 30- great amps for that price... and all tube too. you cant go wrong. Still no luck with the ladies mate... but anyway- send me that movie star you talked about vin, Ill take good care of her :D

Blertes

Whats going on mate, your a good looking bloke? Are you farting alot or do you keep rugby tackling em, or something? Ladies tend to get rather annoyed when they cant take more than five steps without hitting the concrete.
Your not telling em to order whatever they want, whilst you order a glass of water and tell the waiter to split the bill are you?

Just kiddin. Hope your luck changes soon mate.
