Vinnypop hospital... That is catchy. I have played a few guitars that were in need of a guitar hospital.

Blerties will post some pics here when I get the body and insert the 93 neck. 01gt the loaded body is on ebay.com.au Australia search title:
Custom Stratocaster Body Fully Loaded USA By Fender.

Ready for a Vinny Pop story: Here we go get the popcorn out.
When I was 7 years old the nuns decided to have a school play. There were heaps of cute girls in the class but they chose me to be a woman.
When I went home my parents were upset at the idea but then relented as I told them it will make me famous one day hahahahha. Anyway mother found an old dress and fixed it to fit me. On the day the nuns put lipstick on me and a wig and make up and THE BLACK DRESS, the wig was black.
I looked like a little tart. When I went on stage to say my lines all the crowd went stupid and started yelling at me. I said '' My name is Miss Popycock '' that was one of the lines they told me to say, then a bafoon yelled out '' say it again darling so I did angrily. They all loved it. Anyway
years passed and from that moment on I always kept my hair long. A horrible teacher when I was 15 beat the crap out of me because he wanted me to cut my hair but Vinny Pop refused. I never cut my hair. The girls would always touch it and stroke it and it made me feel special. So yes I was probably the youngest transvestite actor in the WORLD.

Fancy starting your sales pitch with the line 'I am a guitar luthier!'. Thats a bit if an exaggeration isnt it, if the truth be told.

Not sure of the pickup routings shape. Still thats a handsome bit of wood. Looks similar to my sapelle (african mahogany) body. Please dont rely on that though.

Interesting what do you find to be the best way to remove the old frets????

Gday cvilleira theres only one way to remove the frets a pair of fine grip pliers. Start at the ends of the fret working towards the centre lifting slowly.
Then with a fine saw cut a minimal new groove into the fret cut to prepare for the new fret , level off file ends and polish the frets making as smooth as possible. Niki I have been repairing and building guitars since 2000. I hand carved one guitar with a small carving knife and have built up to my experimental strat . Am now working on the RI placid blue strat and the signature Vinny Pop strat. Will have some pics available asap. So i have been doing this for 9 years '' I have some skin on my face , I hope so niki ''

First thing I do is Lemoil the board to help keep it from chipping and I use Klein nippers and I let the nipper lift. Some times when the frets are a pain I will flat iron heat them. Now the old Fender frets where put in from the side you have to remove them the same way or you will tear the board up. I dont recut slots I will clean them and make sure no glue is in them if it was used before. If the frets don't hit bottom and tamp in and the tang grabs why cut it?

Some new frets are deeper than the original used and require a deeper groove but not all. Thats interesting ironing the fret board to ease out Ill remember that.

But not the fret board. I have a flat tip that put on as a solder iron I call it a flat iron tip and will just heat a fret at a time if needed. I also have asbestos soldering sheets that are very thin that I can lay on the fret board next to the fret to keep heat off the board.
Now if I am removing the fret board itself then I would use a iron and work my way up the board.

I have never removed a fretboard but am looking forward to it as am prepared to learn the total ins and outs of the guitar. Once you get inside a fretboard its not that difficult to build one if you have the tools.

Good evening or morning to all in the wonderful world of vinnypop. That was an enthralling story vinny. My ego forbids me from sharing stories of that caliber.

Hey vin, how are ya matey- an idea:

How about you sign the vinnypop strat and put a number on it? When I was a young-un, I had an after school job that was voluntry with a luthier who was very talented. He couldnt afford to pay me, so his wife would make dinner and I was enthusiasticv to learn from him. He said he was trained by a man by the name of Zel Tait (not sure of spelling, its a wierd name) who claimed to be a former fender employee in the mid to late sixties working in the paint dept.. Anyway, one day we were bored with no work to do, so we made some necks. We got silly about it and we got a marker and wrote messages on the underside of the bubinga fingerboards before glueing them on. We wrote things like "sorry 'bout that" and "Blair and Craig rules". We'd draw smilet faces and all sorts.
I allways wonder everynow and then if someone out there had to remove it, whether or not they would have a chuckle to themselves
Silly buggers we were

Gday woody87 and Blerties and all here hope we are trying to smile through our days. The Vinny Pop strat Blerties with the blonde sunburst is a great idea am tempted to take my placid blue 62 RI and get a proffessional custom shop painter to do that part for me but will ask how much they will charge hahahahaha probably as much as spraying a bloody car I bet. If I can ever get the sunburst blonde happening off course I will sign it and put numero uno on it with all my pleasure and show it off here off course. The neck is no problem as I should be able to score a 57 RI with the '' V '' shape from ebay. I dont know if I have the courage to respray the placid blue its tooooooooooo nice will just be patient and wait for the right body to appear before my eyes lol. Cmon woody87 everyone here at Vinny Pop channel has to OPEN UP, get the cobwebs out of our systems be afraid of nothing on this earth, I only fear God and I do fear HIM because everytime I stuff up my punishment comes quickly. It never use to be this way, I could get away with heaps of things and it would take years months before I paid my dues but lately since my Vinny Pop enlightenments punishment seems to come quickly, do you know what I mean. hahahahahahhahahahahah I better lie down on the Vinny couch. Thats a great idea guys and gals let me get into your heads, if you have any problems I will set up the Vinny Pop couch and examine your brain hahahahahahah FOR FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, everything will be strictly confidential only the fan club will know and we can all trust each other ok sounds good great.
