My guitar comes stock with a SSS pickup configuration. The Fender specs page states my guitar is routed for HSH as well. I find this very cool. Does anyone know when Fender started doing this?

I would assume sometime after the swimming pool cut from the 80s.

Interesting reference. It got me thinking and I found this on Ed Roman's site... a little bit down the page he talks about the swimming pool route.
