While resting on its stand inside the front of Doc. Pittilo's Store in Fountain Valley, Ca. the guitar was run over and destroyed by a run away mini van Saturaday morning. The guitar had survived countless hours and miles on the road for dozens of years when Doc was a touring musician only to be broken beyond repair by a mini van. Doc said the guitar was not insured but I am sure the drivers insurance co. will pony up for this one.

Every CAR should be treasured after all the red ones are the fastest and certainly the prettiest.

Seriously i'm sorry to hear the bad news.

Jeeze....why is that strat displayed at the front window anyway????? If it were to be displayed, it should be in glass case in the back of the store and away from the sunlight. Many reputable vintage shops display valuable guitars this way.

Doc's shop is not a vintage guitar store. It is primarly a repair shop with lessions and some sales. Doc's repair bench is near the front window and maybe he had the guitar out to work on it .

Does CA have the death penalty? If so, I can see why it would be applied to the driver of the mini-van.

Probably not his fault. This is a terrible intersection with cars going every which way with multiple left and right turn lanes which I am sorry to most drivers don't understand.

this is TERRIBLE! RIP, CAR...

on another note, did you read the thread by vinnypop, 53?

kind of sad for him in the end, but still kind of funny he claimed yours was not a '53

of course I was there to defend its authenticity ;)

As I always say...I am pro-guitar and anti-runaway vans. 8)
