My quitar has no bite, so after listening to several pickup sound clips, I thought I really liked the sound of the Seymour Duncan P rails. Will these humbucker sized pickups fit into my MIM strat without routing?

Some of the bodies look like they will only accept single coils without major reworking. Has anyone done this, and do you like your sound? Any advice would be helpful.

Do you have any other pickup recommendation?

Most newer MIM bodies now have a HSH route job already, but this should not even be an issue. I thought the Duncan Rails series was a single coil-sized humbucker. With that in mind it should fit without even having to change pick guards. I could be wrong though.

Thanks for the answer.

Here is a link to the particular pickup that I am looking at. I think this pickup will give me more sound options.

Thanks for the link. I have not seen those yet, looks cool. I foresee a need for a new pickguard with that though. Please give a review once you are done on the new tone.

Everything I've read and heard about the p-rails make it sound like it would be great in a strat body. Personally, I'll always want my 3 strat single coils, but for a second guitar, the p-rails might be my first choice. You should have the proper routing for the p-rails, already. Easy enough to pop off your pickguard and have a quick look before you order them, though. Of course, you'll be buying a new pickguard for an HH Stratocater.

Seymour Duncan has excellent wiring diagrams for the pups, so that shouldn't be a problem for you. I for one will be very interested in hearing whether you do the p-rails and what you think of your strat if you do.

Thanks for the information. I raised the pickguard up and to my surprise it looks as though this MIM strat is routed HHS instead of HSH. Defininitely has to routed to use the new P rails. Will certainly have to think about it.
