Stopped at the guitar store this weekend, (always a bad thing) had my American Standard Tele in the trunk of the car, (so the table was set). Was considering a switch back to a Strat, just for grins, took the white EJ Strat off the wall and plugged into a Fender Deluxe, unbelievable, swapped the Tele and some cash and now think I have the guitar set up to (possibly) end GAS. If you are in the market for a Start and can swing it financially I highly recommend you give this model a try, it is amazing, as a newer player I feel guilty owning such an amazing, guitar well beyond my ability level. The American Strat, while very nice was not even in the same ballpark as this one. I used to laugh when I read the posts of the folks raving about this model, now I will be one of them.

i guess everyone has their own opinion. but my favorite guitar is a thinline tele or a regular tele with or without a jb jr. humbucker in the bridge.

You should have just ponied up for the strat and kept the tele. The hell with guitar budgets. Who says you couldn't have both. This way it would be the best of both worlds. You never know, but I sense that someday you will get another tele, it's in your blood.
