I forget if this was already discussed but do you think Mick Mars deserves his own strat. I would buy the guitar in a heartbeat. he has been playing strats basically his whole career the guy deserves one just my opinion though.

This has been discussed. There will no doubt be the naysayers that claim there are already too many signature models, and that signature models should only be created for the likes of Clapton, Beck, or Vaughn. That is not my opinion, though. The most important thing to me is having a genuinely unique guitar configuation. Consider that Mars does utilize a unique configuration, and he has also been a hardcore exclusive Strat player for many years now. Yeah, I say build it. Okay ... now where did I leave my flame suit ... ?

I personally would not own one...I can't even afford the sig. model I would want to own (Dave Murray). I figure I have three to 5 years of saving before I get the Dave. Does he deserve one...why not.

Sure I saw him at NAMM this winter at the Fender exhabition ,I dont think there should be a jury as to who gets a sig model ,if Fender agrees and the artist agrees then I dont see a problem .

I didn't know that Mick Mars (how old is he already?) was a Stratocaster man. But there he was on the cover of the recent Vintage Guitar magazine. And on the inside, pictures of a few of the guitars in his collection, which they say is dominated by Strats!

Absolutely!

Mick is a great guitar player and a huge Fender guy!

I vote yes!

You would think this would be a no-brainer since they gave the guy from Green Day a sig model, and John Mayer! lol - Id say Mick has a little more on his resume' than those clowns! JMO

asg i'm with you on that they give john mayer and mike drint sigs but not one of the best metal guitrists of the 80's one. im not saying john mayer and the other people rnt good i just would expect some one better with more years under they're belt to get a sig first

I don't think so, I seem to recalll him playing Les Pauls and different Kramer's even a flying V.

John Mayer is the last person on the planet who deserves a siggy model. Regardless of his skill, he doesn't consider a guitar an extension of himself so much as a tool to help him get his work done and he has said as much.

Mick, on the other hand knows what side his bread is buttered on and as a guitarist he indeed claims the guitar as his voice. The dude made some great, uncomplicated rock & roll sounds and is the type of artist Fender should embrace rather than someone who could turn tail at any time.

Fender is too quick to assign signature guitars to people whom in my opinion, don't rate it. IMO, Mick Mars is one of them. Sure, he can play but he's no Clapton or Beck nor does he have any where near a comparable legacy. The same goes for so many others. Mars will fade into oblivion just like Mayer, Johnson, and the list goes on. Of course, this is merely IMO, YMMV.

The dude admits he's no Steve Vai. If you want to talk legacy, I'm pretty sure Crue outsold all those guys in terms of millions of units a good while back...

Nothing wrong with that. Fender didn't have a metal guitar back in the day and Kramer had the best! :)
