I recently added .10 guage stings to my MIM Deluxe Fat Strat HSS. Because of the fatter guage strings, my trem floats alot higher than it did with the .09 guage. I tried to screw the 2 screws that adjust the trem further into the body but they seem to be as far as I can go. I still have plenty of the screws exposed but the holes are not predrilled any deeper. Would it be worth my while to back the screws out and predrill the holes further(with the right size bit) so I can get them to go further? Or should I just install another spring to the trem? The last time I installed 4 springs to a trem I ended up snaping the wammy bar. Any ideas?

Install the 4th spring AND back out the 2 screws some; you'll achieve the same tension offset without having to drill.
