I think this guy saw that guitar up on eBay and wanted to know if it was real but he didn't want to tell anyone so if it was he had the first shot at it before anyone else...

I'm sorry but this guy annoyed me from the start.
How can you claim you have the first strat ever made
without proofs and making a video !!
Even if he did get a hold of fender they would ignore him
they have better things to do like build guitars ..

Hi Vinny, sorry to see how this is going for you. I hope you have some recourse. good luck. A couple things:

1) that headstock and transition logo decal look like late '60s: 1965 to 1969. But the tuners are not vintage correct, they are missing the slot and hole going down the shaft.

2) the three tone sunburst looks 1965 to me

3) no one knows what that original 1953 trem looked like! Well, George and Leo knew ... If that trem's a fake, it certainly looks plausible.

4) if I were trying to fake that, I would have used other parts that were more "1954-ish": maple neck, spaghetti logo, round string tree, one-ply 8 hole pickguard, etc.

Are we playing spot that Pink Floyd album title or something?

Maybe he was "Obscured By Clouds"?

I cant wait till people start trying to sell road worns as originals on ebay, I guess if I saw an original 53 strat for sale I would commision a appraiser, a small price to pay to make sure the instrument is authentic.

Yeah, best of luck to people trying to wade into the vintage market for the first time ... you gotta do your home work. And then avoid ebay; use a well established guitar dealer.

you didnt fool me ...now that i go back to read your first post i start to laugh haha

so are you going to record your 2nd album with it before you return it?
by the way about your whole decal fact ... all fenders have a decal not paint.
the reson you cant see it sometimes is becuase it was lacquered..
but in your case it would be a good thing if it has a decal. that would mean its a real ...i think it was repaired over the years with newer parts or build with parts that were left over..

the reason we dont take kindly of you is becuase you werent up front..

What do you mean "no truss rod" ?

There shouldn't be a "skunk stripe" but there should be a metal adjuster at the end of the neck that attaches to the body. Where the date code would be stamped.

i think most of us here come here to learn new things like
tones,pickups,woods,strings,action,tremolos,tunners,wiring,frets,etc
and not to get fooled when we buy guitars..
ive learned alot here in the last couple of months..

i hope you get your money back but if you want to stick around i suggest
you delete this vinnypop name then start a new one and dont tell us who you are and never do this again...

That one is saved and printed for future enjoyment - thank you!

I can't claim credit for that picture, but it does happen to be my computer desktop image. Here's where I got it: http://www.webstrings.com/guitar_wallpaper.html There are a lot of good ones on that site!

More evidence is now emerging the neck appears to be real as in the first tele made no truss rod. It may appear it is authentic that it was found in the Fullerton basement and an employee had the 62 serial numbers placed on the neck I am now going to 3 dealers expertin fender strats and will advise this may be the real deal as that tremelo is definately authentic and a neck with no rod is exactly what they did with the first tele in 1950 to you other people who do not care about investigative fenderism which may reveal something special either way stay away from my thread I have nothing to be ashamed of and may very well conquer in all of this. Why hasnt Fender told me anything is this site totally useless just for amaeteurs to spill their guts where is a fender expert who can discuss this tremelo and a fender strat neck with no rod at all please Fender explain to me or do you just sell guitars with no support what so ever Im waiting here I will not go away until Fender gives me some answers
