Well this was the start of the ball of %^$@ rolling down hill and gaining miomentium. It's sad that someone would pay 6000.00 for a guitar when its obvious they don't no anything about them. And we have had a few jump on the forums with some strange tales. And to say Lonely boy was documented and then weave a tale did nothing but bring the knowledgable members to there peak of curiosity and show different.

Y' know CV going back through the entirety of this thread, I have come to the conclusion that I was too willing to give this character the benefit of the doubt. I felt bad that he had been duped. But after reviewing his responses as some of the members pointed out problems with the guitar itself, and with his story I am pretty convinced he was spinning yarn.

I don't know what his motive was. it could have been just for kicks, yanking peoples' chains. Or if could have been to try create some 'buzz' for his release or whatever. Or it could have been to try find some poor schlepp to foist that hunk of wood on.

I notice after I identified it for what it is , that is when he wrote:

Simone ive just been emailed by the one of the first original owners it was all a lie he said he saw the add and tried to warn me but ebay stopped him communicating with me he said he owned it for 20 years unlike the story that a dead vet owned it for 50 years he told me he hated this vietnam strat so much that he dropped it on its head and split the head stock in half I proffessionally reglued it as soon as I got it he then claims to have got pliers and ripped the first tuner off in anger and then he dropped it off to the auction house where apparantly this gentleman paid 280.00 aussie dollars for it. It never came from a dead vet whose sad daughter later sold it that was all lies in the add this man reckons unless he was fed lies from the auction house but Im sorry the owner who attacked thjis guitar after 20 years didnt totally destroy it but he did attack the guitar hahahahahhahahahahahhahahahaha
I want to pour petrol on it and burn it so it will never hurt anyone else again I really dont feel like sending it back

We all know how ebay would do its best to help someone commit fraud, and how most companies would take action to prevent someone from warning someone else about fraud!!! Maybe this guy is in the opium field with all those wallabies.

So its obvious he's just making stuff up. Final verdict:

My 1980 satin matt finish strat is nice nice grain but its very pale looking what do you guys and gals think if I stained the body to make it look dark and more woody and then not even laquer it just a dark wood stain and yes thats me on itunes and Sam has nothing to do with this I immediately emailed him and told him thankyou for veryfying my album to the poster pleased to meet you and thankyou again I am no angel or saint but always try to speak the truth I spoke the truth as to what I knew I really though I purchased the first 53 vibrato guitar and was showing it off Im really sorry and I needed and deserved the guideance and expertise of all of you and will be forever grateful in that you all have helped me regain my money to be cleared in account by Thursday I have received bank emails advising money has been deposited and will be cleared by Thursday I hold no malice or blame to the seller he never fled he stayed with me in all of this. Was there ever a seller? Was this all some tale you concocted Vinny? Who is Simone? Can we have a link to the ebay auction? I know its over but they keep it on file for a good while.

these and other questions will be answered in a future installment of this surreal thread.

Vinny Buy Austrailian not far eastern or even american. Theres a guy in the northern territories who makes brilliant mosrite copies of world wide fame.

Pleased to meet you flanker35 yes I wrote The Spirit Of Australia in 1985 I am hoping it will be used in some Aussie advertising campaigns but as yet nothing its a nice song nice words I am proud of it. I signed an agreement with Sam Leach in 2004 he is based in UK so its a very far away relationship but he does advise me and has promised to show Paul my album on next meeting him soon. The first tune Sam heard was The Slide a wild dance hit sensation also on youtube I am offering anyone who tapes a clip to the words a free cd signed by me Vinny Pop its very reminicent of the great dance hits of the fifties and early sixties and I play some really wild rythms and guitar solo and its a really funny song to dance you start off by getting butt to butt hahahhahahaha blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa rolls eyes

Yes there was the ebay auction but ebay pulled it off after 7 days but I communicated privately and bought it anyway. I am NOT a liar and ps I was prepared to pay up to 15000 for the guitar so thank God it was pulled off thats the ebay limit to bid without having credit card registered.

ebay pulled the auction, and you didn't see that as a red flag?
