Fender Cats and Kittens,

So for quite a while I've wanted a 77 strat for no real reason than it's my birth year. I've seen a few over the years, and never found one I liked. Well I was at a local GC and they had one that has a black body and rosewood fretboard, which is my favorite setup. Everything looks original. It is in pretty rough shape. The chucklehead who had it before took steel wool to different areas (threads of the wool are stuck on the pups) and there is/was a chunk out of the lower body that looks to have been filled, but not well.
Anyhoo GC wants $2500 for it, which is nuts! Or am I nuts? I really need to play it more, but I like what I heard. I know the late 70's was a sketchy time for Fender, but I would like alot of feedback from you guys.

For that price they are out of there mind!!!! The way you are descibing it that would be 1100.00 guitar at best.
