Hi everybody ... what do you think about the dimarzio virtual series pups .
i recently change the original pickups ( crappy and cheap) of my MIM strat .
i put a set of dimarzio virtual 2 .. they`re not as bright as a real single coil , in fact they have a "round sound" ( i think its because they`re hum canceling) .

I use them, not your particular models though.

The most important question is, what do YOU think about them?

They make great pickups. I have a pro-paf on my "metal" guitar that I love, wouldn't want any other. Lots of people love Dimarzio and lots of pros use them. In general I like Seymour Duncan better. They just have the tones I like for strat a bit better. But if you find a Dimarzio you like, they do make very good stuff.

I think some time people get Dimarzio and Seymour Duncans because they know the name and forget to check out Klein and Lollar even Kinman. I even put a set of Bare Knuckle Brown Sugars in a Tele a few weeks ago for someone. I have found most of these brands surpass many others out there. I recomend Klein and Lollar often and the Bare Knuckles are new to me mainly because of availibilty here but they sounded cool I must say. What I am getting at is think out of the box a little and you would be suprised.

I love them, but I use the much newer "Area" models which have a lot more varied options. The Area 67 is very bright.

From what I have read and heard, the Kinmanns are very similar, but cost more.

[quote="stratocrazy"]Hi everybody ... what do you think about the dimarzio virtual series pups .

I loaded a set of their blues pickups into a MIM Buddy Guy 'polka dot' some years back. Was a good choice.

I have the Area 58, 67, 61 in my MIA Standard Strat in that order from neck to bridge. All I can say is, vintage Strat tone without the hum. And she quacks well in the 2, 4 positions. Great combo!

Play On!

I use Area 67's in the neck and middle positions with a Virtual Vintage 54 Pro in the bridge. Sounds great.

I got the pre-wired dimarzio pickguard with the Area 58, 61, and 67. Noiseless and plenty stratty. Waaaay better than the stock pickups in my mia 1996. The 67 sits in the middle position and is a special treat...lots of mids and really likes to sing.

I liked the fact that they came prewired, and not only are the pups great, Dimarzio did a great job with choosing the right pup for each position and using the right pots, etc.

I wanted noiseless, as I was recording near a computer moniter a lot. When I quit doing that, I thought about going boutique, but decided there's really nothing I don't like about what I have.

Just to add my $.02, I have an 08' MIM with 2 - 58's in the neck and middle and a 61' in the bridge. All I can say is.......I LOVE them. Great tone with no hum. Of course this is just my preference. It REALLY is up to the individual. Best of luck and remember to keep us posted on what you decide upon.

I have DiMarzios in both of my Strats and love 'em. I have 1 Strat that has a Super Distortion 3 in it along with 2 Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues 2 in the mid and neck. I love'em they work rather well for the type of rock\metal that I play.

I'll have to get back to y'all on the Dimarzio. I am about to install Super Distortion 100 in my bridge...I need more umph than the stock Fender Alnico 3 pup that is in there now.
