To have color you must have light. Black represents no light. Black represents the absence of light so technically Black is not even a color. But we all know what Black looks like and we call it a color anyway.

Your not kidding fhop!!!!The entreched are dug in deep and the argument means nothing. I firmly beleive we would all be playing Custom shop guitars if all had the money to spend on it. And come on we be fools not to trade a MIM anything for a Custom Shop Model look at the monetary value difference.

Pretty much sums up the point I was trying to make.

There is no best guitar
There is no best blues player
There is no best solo
There are many personal opinions

It seems to me that all this does is cause problems so I voted no to give them something to argue about. Heck! How many times doe we have to go through this exercise of saying that MIM's are good guitars! Not the Best of all time! Geez! :? The OP does not even have his until next week!!!

I guess it's how you look at it.

Black is an acromatic color with no hues and white is also an acromatic color.

Well, if people want to be technically correct, there is no such thing as color in the physical world. There are only varying frequencies of light.

The sensation of color is created wholly in the brains of people(and other animals) who share the adaptations of their 'cone cells' in their eyes. these cells create differing chemical reactions when struck by light of different frequencies. Our brains sort this out by creating the sensation of color.(This is the super basic breakdown.)

The same is true of sound, and music. All constructs of our shared physiology.

So to sum it up, it's all in our heads anyway, why get worked up about the minutiae?

I love all the things I learn on this forum. Thanks guys.

Now I think I'll go bang a few chords on my non light reflecting Strat. :D

Just make sure you get one with a black finish. Black guitars have better tone than most other finishes. Sunburst colors also sound great but not quite as good as black. :P

Black sucks. It's technically not even a color. This is a ridiculous observation.

Black is not a color? When did this happen?

I was also not being serious. Just having a little fun with these "which is better" threads. I don't seriously think color makes a difference in tone.

I thought Black was the presence of all colors while white is the absence of all colors. Man, this means my art teacher in 3rd grade was full of crap.

Uh, let's see... you put white light through a prism and you get a rainbow of colors... And, if things that look black are absorbing all colors (you see whatever color an object doesn't absorb...), that thing is just like a black hole in space... Therefore, all of us with black guitars are doomed....

Personally, candy tangerine is my favorite color, plus its safe to have around the house....

For those who voted "no", cherokee747, fhopkins, and orvilleowner, what experience did you have with MIM guitars to vote negatively?

In one case, I think fhopkins, it was stated that they specifically voted no for the drama as a mild form of protest against these same threads resurfacing repeatedly.

This thread sucks, the question has been answered, can't we go home and take a shower? This thread has a bad vibe in it. :[
