Simon M.,

Check out the roadworn Strat, IMHO they sound and play better than the standard MIM strats. I have the 07 highway one and the roadworn 60s strat.

How many pieces is mine made from? I cannot tell, I think three. But it could be just two, joints are too good. Look at the top and the bottom of this body, it's a little decieving.

This one is two pieces, right?

My MIA Mustang body is three pieces--you can't tell very easily on the front--beacuse of the pickguard, but from the back it's obvious.

Thank you kindly, sir!

One of the MIM's I played was a white roadworn model, and I much preferred it to the Mexican Standard Strat I tried out. The neck was more comfortable, in my opinion.

I played a Highway One, though, and decided on that instead; an '06 model that was NOS at the Fender dealer I went to (here in Australia). The neck was really great, and I immediately liked the different tone setup. The pricing here is different (value of the Aussie dollar, import costs, etc), so a standard MIM was $1200.00, a MIM roadworn was just under $1500.00, and the American-made Highway One was $1299.00. There was no contest - I'd have been crazy to pay more for a MIM than for a MIA guitar. For only $49.00 more than a standard MIM, I got a H1!

It's the damned guitars  They rob us of our better judgement and reduce us to fawning, drooling Fenderphiles.

I dont know who's more revolting, the bone head that posted this thread, or the retards that keep feeding this troll.

Ahem,

Was that an insult? You want to know what I find revolting? Probably not because you do not seem have room in your mind for anything than your own opinions.

Here's hoping you lose your keyboard!

:D

Cheers!

Hey StratoCats !

Just Got back from my Cruise to Alaska- It was wonderful. I come back here and I find that this thread has expanded far past its expiration date.

I own a MiM Strat and love it- Thats my opinion- I love my guitar and wouldn't trade it for anything shot of a new heart for one of my kids. Is it the best Guitar ?.....probably not . But it is mine and we make music together.

It's all personal opinion- If someone was interested in a new guitar, I would suggest, if asked, that they check out an MiM....and have them make your own decision.

When you are up on stage...it doesnt matter if your guitar is from USA or Cuba....its the music that counts and that comes from the heart.

The Freeze-

i have a black mim strat that when i first got im going to have to admit it sounded like caca de toro...... i have since put new pickups all black hardware tuners tremelo strapbuttons input jack string tree neck plate and also a black pickguard and spring cover it now is one nasty strat that will hang with any coustom shop high end guitar in terms of tone cosmetics as well as playability....so i say viva la mim strat!!!!!

Essentially which a few exceptions, you can choose between a guitar made by a Mexican in Ensenada, or a guitar made by a Mexican in Corona.

I have had the privilege of working with several Mexican luthiers over the years, and they produced instruments of quality equal to any I have ever observed. A guitar being made in Mexico is no indication of a lack of quality.

I would say it is more do to the quality of the the materials used. And you are kiding yourself if you think the assembly workers are luthiers. As Mike from fender has said they choice the better grade woods for CS models and I have no doubt the supplier of body blanks sell them to fender as different grades for body and neck woods. And those grades are used on different model everywhare. Different grades of wood from a mills can have drastic cost differences. Thats just a small part of the difference the electronics not that they can't make them as good in Mexico but they don't. They just buy lower cost ones from the supplier. As Ceri said in one of his post a small increase in quality cost a lot in purchase price.

But if a 54 strat or 52 Tele will beat any Fender guitar today...then high grade woods shouldnt matter...making the Mexicans a better buy. Because back in the day...Leo used whatever was available...some Teles were even made from Pine, the originals never stayed in tune...even Jeff Beck admitted they sounded great but were a $@!&* to play and keep in tune and keep in mind, Fenders were the alternative to the cork sniffing Gibson bunch...it was a simple working mans guitar....im pretty sure an upstart company wasnt going to be picky about woods when cost was an issue. So compared to traditional fenders...the mexicans are more Fender like than the MIA.

I've had my roadworn mexican strat now for about three weeks and loving it more than the day I purchased it. It sounds great completely stock. No need to do any changes thus far.

Check out my yourube, excuse my sloppy jazz/blues attempt.

I probably would get a 60's Road Worn Strat but they come with the sharp radius necks. If they made a Road Worn neck with a flatter radius there is a good chance I'd get one.
