So I came across this forum a few days ago, and they have some pretty cool stuff going on. This guy builds guitars to order, by hand, by himself, and posts pics of the process.

Yeah, that link was posted here once before. Very interesting, but also odd, in that he made the strat with a spruce body. He reasons that because Martin tops and Steinway pianos use spruce, it will be a good wood choice for a Strat body.

The argument is faulty, as the qualities needed for tops and sounding boards are not the same as the qualities needed for a guitar body. My guess is that the body will be warm to the point of lacking any high end.

I didn't re-read the article, but I don't recall the author commenting on the tonal properties of the guitar.
