Stainless frets are very hard to work with. You could easily add an extra 2 hours to the cost of a hand made guitar. The crowning process alone neccesetates its own file, diamond files dont stand a chance against stainless frets.

Also the cost of a recrown (every guitar needs one atleast once) would be terribly expensive. It would easily turn a 1 hour (£30) job into a 3 or 4 hour job.

Also in theory they should lend to string breakage too. Wouldnt you wear the strings thin when bending.
