I suspect it's not her, but rather me.

I have yet to buy a decent amp and usually have to use headphones. Somedays she is as sweet as an angel and other days she is dead. No sustain just, meh.

Is it me or are all your girls moody aswell?

Cheers.

I thought I was the only one with that problem. I still haven't figured it out either. Its probably me, but I have also wondered if room temp. and humidity could be a factor.

I think it's probably just us.....think of it this way: If you play Basketball, sometimes you go to the gym to shoot, and everything you throw feels sweet and goes down. Other days, you can't buy a bucket to save your life. Same hoop, same ball, but totally different results.

Or play soccer, and some days you can make that through-pass with perfect pace and touch, or chip that ball over and in between 3 defenders and right onto your teammates foot. Other days, it's shank city.....

I think most all of us have those days, no matter what we're trying to accomplish.

It is one of those unexplained mysteries. lol I have had it happen both ways. I have had times when my tone was just to good to be true and the only thing I did was shut the amp off, not even unplug the guitar and go upstairs. Come down the next day all the settings exact and uuggghh what the hell happened sounds totally off. I still cant explain it. Then you have those days you are playing on another level where everything is just so easy even the hardest runs you know you can just keep nailing perfectly one right after another with no effort at all. Then you have days when your shucking clams left and right. That I attribute to where your head is at. Sometimes you have to much on your mind and that is what your thinking about and is usually the cause of a bad session.

its playing a guitar, their are lots of varibles about it. and playing a guitar which doesnt sound great when you know it did one day wants to make you stop playing it as much or do something about it. like i said they are many varible for instance some times when you might play guitar you might be feeling down being less focused on actually playing the guitar and thinking about the things that are makng you feel down resulting in placing your fingers in the wrong place and in the wrong way on a fret. another thing is to change your tone control and distortoin or affects as close as you can to what you wont it to sound like before playing the guitar other wise certain different types of music sound crap on the wrong affect the last thing is if it is frequently sounding worse imporve it! replace the strings, cleam everything, or buy a decent amp if you follow all these steps and you guitar doesnt sound write i know your problem...

go buy a tuner  (fender one 8) )

Don't worry about it. All of us have days when we should just leave the guitars put away and read a book or something.

I also get those days. But one thing I have found that sometimes helps, is to be sure your guitar is in tune and the strings are still good. Did you wipe the strings before putting it down last time ect?

But the tuning thing is serious. I know your probably thinking no, that's not it, I know my guitar is in tune. But seriously go over the tuning and fine tune each string. A little flat here and a bit sharp there can make for a bad playing experience. I thought it was the tone, because the tuning being slightly off did not jump out at me. But tuning it carefully brought the sounds back to life.

Othertimes, I think I am just getting bored with what I am playing and need something new or different. Your mood can play into it. Sometimes you feel like love songs other days you may want to head bang. Make sure you are playing the right thing to meet your mood/frame of mind

I think it's down to how much your enjoying yourself, sometimes i find that when i force myself to play guitar I "feel" it far less than when i'm really eager to sit down and thrash out some licks!

+1

Variety is always good. Right now I have a really good booklet that I am working from and I am constantly learning new songs and music theory, so my need for variety has not be so drastic. I think with a good teacher or some good learning material you will probably have more good days than bad.

Also I find that some guitar strings sound dull after a while, even if they still look new and stay in tune some brands seem to go flat and lifeless especially when playing your guitar allot

My version is : Some days I have it, most days I don't!!!

Actually there are very few days I absolutely hate my playing. There are only a few were I am super happy with it though. Most days I am pretty happy, but always think I could should do better.

Firstrat makes a great point regarding the tuning thing as well. A slightly flat or sharp string can make everything sound horrible. Tune 'em up first thing after getting your fingers loose every time you play! :)

When I have those bad days, I just chalk them out as paying my penance for the good days that I have.
