I am BRAND NEW to the site. NOT a music player. But I am an experienced seller of various items on eekBay. I have been asked by a friend who owns an '88/'89 Vintage Series Strat (S/N-E 804XXX), to sell it for him, on eekBay. I am curious to know what were the names of the factory colors on these guitars? Is there a database, maybe here on the website, that would tell me what color it is? It looks, to me, to be a dark teal green, with a maple neck and head. I would love to be able to accurately describe the factory color, in the ad to sell it. I am certain it is a factory color, as the guitar has never been played, and is in near mint condition. There are no wear marks from being played, no scratches and no nicks. Other than a few fingerprints, which will be polished out with guitar polish, it appears like one on display at a guitar store.
If anyone here who could point me to a database, where I can get the info I am looking for, I would be greatly appreciative.
Thank You, very much.

Do a google search on fender guitar colors and throw in automobile or something like that.

You are probably talking about teal green metallic. I have one. Also check the Fender color chart at this web site.

OK, I have tried the Google search, and not come up with anything. I figured there would be something in the way of a color chart here, which is why I signed up. BUT, I can't find it, to make the comparison.

For the person interested in buying, it's not mine, I am simply a close friend of the guy who owns it, and a reasonably experienced eekBay seller, though I've never sold a guitar. I have been asked to sell it there, for my friend. So, I will be happy to post a link to the eeKbay page, where it will be auctioned. I just want all of my ducks in a row, and have all of the correct information, before I list it. If I find out the name of the color, likely, it will begin the auction later today.
Thanks for your interest, but I still can't find the color.
HELP, please!

I Googled it, using less wording, and found a color chart. The chart associated with this site, shows Teal Green Metallic as being quite a bit lighter in shade than this one. But, I found another site http://www.provide.net/~cfh/fenderc.html which shows one in Teal Green Metallic, that looks exactly like the one I am asked to sell, only the one I am selling looks to be in better shape.
Thanks to everyone here for trying to help, I appreciate the effort.

Fenders metallic colors usually appear fairly dark, until exposed to direct light. Esp in pics.
