Welcome!

Premising the string is wound properly and the guitar is properly set up, ithe nut slot could be cut too wide, too deep; with an incorrect break angle; there could be a hairline crack at the base of the nut slot and/or a few other things. This is one of those questions that can only be answered with absolute certainty by a hands-on inspection. Have the nut evaluated by a competent tech.

To Martian's excellent advise I would add that I have seen players not put enough winds around the tuning post and get a buzz. Alway wind your string around the post with every wind under the one before (closer to the peg head).

If the slot is too wide its a fairly easy fix. Put a blob of superglue on a piece of card dip a needle in it to get the smallest amount of glue and then wipe that into the nutslot. Leave it to dry, and re-cut the slot. You will ony need 1 or 2 passes with the nut file to get the correct depth at the correct thickness.

It would have to be a wide slot though. Nut slots are usually cut 3 or 4 sizes above a .10 gauge sets sizes. A nut cut to those sizes will handle even a set of 0.09's ok.

No. A turn or so is fine.

We're all assuming from your first post that you've eliminated all the other causes of buzz - relief and action adjustments, etc. That's right, is it?

Cheers - C

Yes my neck relief is.010 and string height is 4\64 at the 17th fret i've tried 5\64 and higher same noise. The nut visually looks good I'm also wondering if the micro tilt adj was good from the factory

Is the microtilt ever used on a factory set up? Theres only one way to go with the microtilt. Loosen it off. I have mine just touching the back of the neck heel. I heard it rattling around when i had it loose.

Does it only rattle when the string is open? If it rattles when fretted, I'm just wondering if you verified the saddle isn't causing it?

It rattles worse when fretted above the 12th but rattles open also unless you strike the string lightly how do I verify the saddle isnt the cause

Swap the saddle for the low E string saddle. If it works ok then use the G string saddle for the low E. Any groove in it will be too narrow for the low E to rattle in.
