You could buy a new neckplate, have it engraved, and then put in on. That way you don't loose a single second of playing time and you still have all the original parts in original condition.

My blue Strat is named Jimi, but if it's a "her" than you probably wouldn't want to name it Stevie. How about Stevette? Stevia? Stevie Jane? Stevie Rachel? :P

Nice story.

We actually don't see very many "real" vintage guitars around here.

Congrats.

Are you sure. The silver jubilee amps have a very unusual nasaly sound, without much gain. I recorded a lp with one once. Very good recorded tone but sounded like crap in the room.

Do I have to be the one to quote the unwritten rule of guitar ownership and the internet.

That rule was written every time I've ever seen it!

Stevie Nicks thinks Stevie is a perfectly fine name for a "her"

Good to know there's a few others my age that still like that old blues feel. :D

Im 13 and my band played Hendrix's "Vooddo Child" at our school talent show. We got second, but we the group that beat us were in their last year at the school, which meant it was their last year to compete. they really interacted with the crowd, so i guess they deserved it. congrats on the strat (which is another way of saying "give it to me i want it!!!") lol

like you said its great to hear about the younger generations playin music way before our time. :)

That's awesome man, I don't really play with a band. But I hope to maybe do a cover of Under the Bridge live at Slane from the Chili Peppers, or Electric Ladyland for our talent show., :D

[quote="Twinky_Bomb"]It's not really new, but it's new to myself.
Anyways, I just had a 1962 Fender Stratocaster shipped to me from Florida, and I live in Texas.

Keep this guitar original vintage, don't screw around with it, and make sure someone you trust services this instrument if you cannot do it yourself. The veracity of these guitars are documented by body and neck dates and serial numbers on anything and everything in the build which has one, and you certainly don't want some 'sharpie' swapping out your pups, pots and resistors behind your back. I would think very seriously about playing out with it unless I had absolute control of the instrument in a safe and secure venue.

This guitar is now 47 years old and hopefully it might see 100 if the years are kind. I'd consider it very precious cargo at this point. Common sense has to prevail here. You are entitled to bragging rights about this, but take care who hears you.

I have a '58 Strat story which I've told in these pages before and I am still not satisfied that someone at CBS-Fender didn't switch the bodies 40 years ago this summer, for their own nefarious purposes.

Doc
