Sounds odd, can you post a pic or 2?

Guitar SHop Guys are the #2 source of misinformation about guitars (I'll leave it to you to guess the #1 source). I'm guessing that "It was made for just one year in 2005" is a slab of your main man's finest baloney, seasoned and smoked for two reasons only: to make him sound like an insider and to see if you'll believe it long enough to whip out your VISA.

Here are two possible explanations:

1. The neck is a real Fender replacement neck, which they made for a very short time and which came with a decal that just said "Fender."

2. It's a replacement neck (or not) with a fake logo on it.

Based on what I've read in the various guitar forums all these years, my money would be on the latter.

You don't specify what model fender guitar it is.

My Toronado GT HH (also from about 2005) just has the word Fender on the Headstock. On the back it says made in Korea, along with the serial number. This guitar was from Fender's Big Block range.. maybe yours is one of those? I believe the range included Strats and Teles also..

Good catch. I was in the Stratocaster forum, so I figured it was a Strat.

But maybe not.

Both my Stratocasters say Stratocaster. I have seen Fender logos on some guitars without mention of model. What model do you have or supposed to have?

No offense meant to the original poster personally here. But I really hate posts like this one. The post is ridiculously vague. The fact that he mentions both words Stratocaster and Telecaster leaves it wide open about the shape of the body, is like one of those? Or neither?

There is no way for anyone here to offer any kind of opinion or information without a picture, or less usefully a pretty accurate description.

From this post it could be anything from a knock off strat, to a jazzmaster to a resonator for all we know.

A good amount of the FSRs and other Korean made Fenders only have Fender on the front of the headstock with the serial and country of origin on the back. A couple particulars I can think of off the top of my head are the Koa strat and the Fender Showmaster. I think '05 is around the right years for the Koa too. Visit often enough and you'll see a headstock on the right hand picture bar that only shows Fender on the front.

Pictures would go a long way here. You get in line with what you give and right now that's not much more than some "possibles".

This is absolutely right. My Special Edition Lite Ash Tele has only the word "Fender" on the front of the headstock: the Lite Ash Strat was the same. Should be a serial number on the back of the headstock in a modern san-serif font.

Good answer. However, I was hoping for another telepathic guitar identification!

Well, then, I guess it's 20 Question time:

Mr. Original Poster, is the guitar in question

an acoustic?

Is it bigger than a breadbox?
