Hey everyone. This is my first post in this forum, but I've been using the Epiphone forums for about 6 months, and have gotten some great responses, so I'm hoping for the same here from my other Musician brothers and sisters!

Anyways, long intro for a short question. I just got a new American standard Strat for $999 plus the rebate, so I know I got the old pricing, and I'm thankful for it! It is a three tone sunburst with a maple fretboard. The factory set up has been great. But again, I digress.

My question has to do with the trem springs. I believe that mine has 3 springs (which I think is pretty standard). My question is, what is the difference (if any) of having 5 springs back there instead of 3? I know Buddy Holly's (back in the day) had 5 springs, and I believe John Mayer has 5 in all of his strats. Do the extra springs give extra sustain? What have been your experiences with the springs in your strats?

In my personal opinion 5 springs gives extra tuning stability and stiffer operation of the tremolo. Not extra sustain.
