Hi
I'm writing from Italy.
Next month I'll be in N.Y. on holidays and I WANT to get my first Fender and I will look for an American Deluxe HSS 3-color Sunburst and Maple neck.
Can anybody of you tell me if it's simple to find this model in shops?
And how much is it? I know that price lists can be a little bit higher than the street prices...
Thanks

I have been looking into that strat also. I believe it is closed to $1,700 and as for availability, it may depend on the store. They will probably have a Deluxe HSS, but it may be a different color. You could also find out which stores you will be near and call them before hand. Good luck finding that perfect guitar!

Thank you Ohio
The only alternative I can accept is for the neck in rosewood, but model and color are not in discussion..
Glad to hear that you also consider that guitar as "perfect" ;-)

Most of the time a guitar store will only have one or two different colors. Like when I got my roadhouse strat. I hated the sunburst with brown pick guard, but it it sounds amazing. By the way the official price on Guitar Center's website is $1639.

I bought my guitar from that online store and I was satisfied from their service

United airlines breaks guitars. Youtube it. They broke the neck on this guys taylor, and would not pay for it, so the result was the video on youtube followed by ual's belated apology.
Its dramatized but is a factual story never the less, so avoid that airline and good luck with your trip and guitar purchase.

'Suggest you consider emailing a Guitar Center and / or Sam Ash Music in the metro area and ask them; they may be able to get you one and have it set up and packaged sufficietly (hardshell case inside of heavy corrugated carton) and have it ready to go when you get there.

Best of fortune!

Ciao gianimaurizio: at the risk of boring everyone with this yet again, one danger is that you will lose a lot of money when you arrive back at the airport in Italy.

Check with your Customs authorities how much they will charge you in import taxes when you bring that guitar into the country. You can find this information online.

Find the guitar you want at an online seller in Europe and also the same guitar in America. Compare the prices. Then add the Italian import tax to the American one.

Then buy the guitar in Europe.

Unexciting advice. But practical. Lot of other good stuff in New York to spend your money on.

Buona fortuna - C

I would REALLY stick with the maple fretboard. After all, you expect to own this for a long time, I would think. I have an American Standard 3-color sunburst with a maple neck (I just set it down), and it is GORGEOUS, if I say so myself. Get what you really want. There is a difference in sound and feel.I wish you the best of luck.

John

Damn it!!!!!
My holydays have been cancelled.....
But I remain searchin' my new Fender....
Unfortunately teh Deluxe HSS is more or less UNKNOWN here in Italy.
So I have to choose another one.
What about the Deluxe American without the Humbuckin'?
I found one at the same price than in America (Sam Ash)...
