I would like to know what pickups Buddy Guy used in Dotty on the Sweet Black Angel Track.

If anyone out there knows, Spank those strings and let me know.

Cheers.

I seem to recall reading that this is the case. I think they're great pups.

The Buddy Guy Signature Strat in the Artist Series is not all that unique, except for the paint and the neck. Its got the soft V. The pups are ceramic and the circuitry is standard.

I believe Buddy Guys actual guitar has lots of modifications to the circuitry, however. Not sure what those mods are though.

There are two Buddy Guy's - one MIM and one MIA. The MIA is ash with lace sensors and a 25dB midboost circuit.

Recently-ish in Chicago, he used the Lace version and two Cyber-Twins with his own programmed-in settings

The original Buddy Guy guitar was a 12db midboost with conventional sc's which ultimately became the now DC'd Powerhouse. He moved rather quickly to a version of the Clapton soon thereafter.

And just in case anyone's in doubt that comes from a gentleman who owned an issue of that very guitar, if I'm not mistaken.

I suspect that's the conclusive answer.

Cheers - C

Not quite, Ceri, though your confidence is appreciated. It was something I looked for but could never find a vendor with. It was, in the Fender catalog, blonde, tortoise shell pickguard, white pu covers, maple neck, Didn't last long in that incarnation but resurfaced much to my surprise as the Powerhouse.

If there's one out there in the flesh, its a rare bird. There's a bit of trivia I'd certainly like to know about.

Buddy's main Strat is essentially just an early Clapton Strat. Midboost, Lace Sensors, etc. [/b]
