Hello Fenderfriends!

As we all know Fender changed the plastics color into black from the previous white (pickguard, knobs etc) during the period 1975 - 1981.

Does anyone know if Fender released some models with white plastic anyway during this era?

Is it possible for example that a 1979 strat could have a white pickguard and that really is the original???

Possible but not probable. Sounds like another owner made some cosmetic changes?

One possibility is that it's not really a 1979 Strat. The S9 serial numbers were used into 1981 (or maybe even later) because production was slowing down and those serial numbers weren't thrown away!

It is thought that some white pickguards made it out of the factory in the late '70s. But exactly how rare such things are is unknown.
