Good luck!

If fender can/does help you I would imagine you will be taking your guitar in to an authorized Fender dealer, and it's repair shop. I can't see fender shipping a neck out to just anybody, but i wouldn't be super surprised if they supplied one to a repair shop, to go onto your guitar.

Yes, all the best!

She would most definitely have to go through a Fender authorized facility. Like I said, they can be pretty hard nosed but, "Hope springs eternal."

I am unsure if I will be chased off the forum for this, but has anyone here had any experience of putting a non-strat neck on a strat? i guess it would be considered cross-breeding?

maybe a tele neck on a strat?
maybe a GIBSON neck on a strat? (oh the humanity!)

im curious! tell me why this would or would not work!

It can be and is done done. Sometimes there needs to be some modifications, other times, the necks are direct replacements.

The term, "Partscaster" came from such cross breeding.

In humble truth, I've installed many non-Fender necks on Fender bodies, Tele necks on Strats and vice versa all around, more times than I can count. I've only put a few Gibson necks on Fender bodies and the inverse because the modifications necessary to make them compatible are essentially not worth the time, effort or money.

Long ago a friend and i put a homemade neck on his Telecaster. he still uses it, it's been about 12 years. Gets nothing but compliments. it was a surprise it turned out so well, but he is a pretty awesome wood worker. I did the fret job, but he did the building.

You can get a replacment neck from Warmoth and if you want to spend the money you can get a neck that would most likely be better then the original!!!! Who cares about a decal it does not make it play better or sound better. Unless you are planing on selling it as a all Fender original guitar it means nothing.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned reliablefender/stratosphere on e-bay.
You could buy a new, never played neck from them as they part out brand new strats. That's where I got my Tele neck, and I'm real happy with it. A little on the pricey side, but to me it was worth it. If Fender is no help, that's the way I would go.

This would be a nightmare. I dont have many friendships that could withstand a blow to my strat like that.

As a general rule, your Insurance (Automotive) will only pay off for things that are normally in a Car. Then the other things that just happen to be in the car are covered by your home owners. A guitar would not be a thing normally in a car so not covered by your Automotive insurance. Probably would be if you had homeowners.

Now... that being said, if the other guy was at fault his insurance would be for all of your loss. Including the Guitar.

You can indeed source our what is probably an even better neck from Warmouth and end up with better than stock. They are an authorized licensed company from Fender. Make some very nice stuff.

+1 on the warmoth. Ive heard nothing but good things about them. You can get the fender logos on ebay and have them laminate that baby on the headstock for you, and noone will know the difference but you.

wow- thanks for all the replies!
to martian- do you have any pictures of these 'partsocaster's? and the gibson necked-fender? i would love to look at those.

and to the guy who mention ebay...funny you should bring that up- after i emailed fender about this (kudos to those who said i should) i looked around on ebay for stuff, and i came across stratosphere... i deffinitally will consider them if fender says NI. on the new neck.

to the person who said "who caresabout the logo" or something like that... well... i do? its just something i would like to have on the guitar... ive seen some people play guitars without logos on the headstocks-- and maybe i am being waaay to judgemental, but i start to doubt their who set up. my first question that comes to mind is- are they too cheap to buy a real fender? maybe its because i cant tell if some fakes are indeed fakes, just by looking at the body. but i start to wonder if the guy playing is legit- should i bother dealing with him in the future?

yes- i acknowledge im being a complete priss about the whole logo deal-- but it means alot to me! i guess it couldbe closely compared to 'AKC' dogs... you can have one pup from a litter have papers, and one without (im talking about the breeder lost the papers for one of the pups-- they are from the same $@!&* and sire, therefore making them as identical as two dogs can be) and the pup with papers will sell for more.

im not saying i would ever part with my strat for money, but i guess i am used to playing onstage with a fender that says fender. kinda like rich people wearing D&G, CHANEL, VS, and Juicy logos all over their clothing, instead of just on the tag...

has anyone else here had broken necks? i love looking at guitar pictures... will some of you post your broken guitar pics? i think it would make me feel less horrible about my guitar... and i will post pics as soon as i stop wincing whenever i see my baby.

Hi cphilip: yep, looking at the home insurance is always a good idea. It often covers stuff people don't realise - as well as all the exclusions.

On car insurance: my mother got driven into by a little ____ driving without insurance. However, her policy covered everything, including her glasses which got broken in the bump. Her insurance company then set about suing the other driver to recover their losses. And of course the police were very interested in someone on the road without cover...

Cheers - C
