Im travelling to London the next month and I really want to change my Standart Squire Stratocaster...
Any suggest about getting a fender strato or squire japan cheap?

PD. Im from Argentina and the pound costs 6 times the peso, so,

1 POUNDS = 6 PESO (Argentina)

so i cant pay 1000 pound for a guitar T_T!´

PD. 2 Sry for my inglish!

Thanks!

well i personally would suggest if you really want something that sounds great for a good price would be to go acoustic... the Sonoran is great and good price.... i know you may not want to do this, but its what i would do otherwise i would say get the starcaster model. and your english is pretty good!! :D

Thanks for that piece of advice !!
I've already have an acoustic guitar. The one that I want to change is my stratocaster :P, cause i think it's time to jump to the next level...
Anyway, the squire has done a really good job...
The information that i want to get is if it is easy to get great a used guitar( fender strato if it is possible)
and not too expensive...

Thanks

pd. the fact you've told me that my english is pretty good makes so glad!!

pd.2 what is starcaste?

I know a few people in Argentina who have bought Fender guitars through dealers in Florida and Texas.

Since you already have a Squier Strat, maybe try a MIM Tele? If you really want to upgrade to a better Strat, check out the used or pre-owned guitars that are available online.

In which page can i found pre-owned guitars?

Im exciting cause I've the faith that I will find a good guitar in London...
In the other way, i was surfing looking for guitars and i relized that a fender is value around 700pound, and i cant pay that cause it is 4200 pesos(too much), so i want to know maybe if is it possible to get a japan 90's squire cheaper than a MIA or MIM.

I would advise against buying a guitar in Europe. From what I've seen and heard, European prices are inflated to (in some cases) nearly double their North American equivalents. The hassle of buying, importing and re-selling American guitars more or less ensures that deals cannot be easily found. I know that this is true for virtually every foreign commodity, and the problem of guitars is exacerbated by their fragility and desirability.

Your best bet would be, as was already said, to look at dealers in the southern United States.

Hi rama91: I'm a little confused. You asked this same question a month ago:

The answer hasn't changed. By the way, £1.00 = 6 Argentine pesos - not the other way around...

Hi Vulkan: then you've heard a little wrong. Naturally, imported goods such as American guitars often cost a bit more in Europe (though not double). Sometimes with currency fluctuations they actually cost less: strange but true.

However, the reason for not buying in a different country than one's own is the import taxes that WILL be levied upon returning home. All of our governments prefer us to shop at home rather than abroad, and weight their customs duties to make that happen...

Cheers - C

Thanks Ceri, i really believe what you say about the taxes but i just wanted another point of view.
I have the italian passport of the European Community so maybe they won't make me pay taxes.

if you are ok with shipped guitars, new strats can be very cheap on www.zzounds.com as well as if you check out Daves Guitar shop which has quite a history with great musicians, their strats that are used run good prices and good quality. depends on your preference... that website is davesguitar.com but the starcaster is much like a strat just not technically a fender, it is made by somebody under fender. the play great they just dont have all the strat parts, however you can always put the strat parts into one of these. thats what i am doing now

Hi rama91: it is the Argentine government that will charge you import taxes when you arrive back in Buenos Aires, regardless of who's passport you hold. That's what the green and red channels at the airport are all about...

By all means take as many opinions as you want, and see if you get an answer you like better than mine.

But better still, why not just visit some guitar shops when you get to London, look at some guitars and if you like the prices - buy one? In London, Denmark Street is a good place to find several guitar shops. There are others in other parts of town.

Good luck - C
