First...what a great forum!!

I had posted this in the Pickups forum but got no responders. Sorry for the double posting.

Can anyone relate the differences/similarities between the pickups found on the American Strat HSS:
2 Custom-Staggered Tex-Mex™, Single-Coil Strat® Pickups and 1 Fender® Diamondback™ Humbucker

and the American Deluxe Strat HSS:
1 Fender® DH-1 Humbucking Pickup (Bridge), 1 Samarium Cobalt Noiseless™ Strat® Pickup (Middle), 1 Hot Samarium Cobalt Noiseless Strat Pickup (Neck)

if everything else is equal (amp, settings, etc.)?

I'm looking to purchase one or the other but will value your viewpoints on the PUPS.

Thanks!

Sorry I can't help but you might want to read the threads on S-1 switching on the Deluxes. You'll see that several people are very high on it.

they both have s-1.

check you tube for the differences in sound... a number of folks have demo video's of both of these guitars and play them in video's when you search the model.

Hi!

i have only tried the American hss strat, but in my impression, after reading about them on the internet and listening to live shows with clapton ( he uses delux), is that the delux pups sound kind of "syntheziser-ish".. i may be slaughered here now, but thats the impression i've gotten!

The biggest difference is the pups in the AM DLX are noiseless. Traditional single coils will hum which can contribute to their unique "raw" tone. Noiseless pups are actually stacked pickups that eliminate the hum but also eliminate some of this "rawness." They don't sound "synthesizerish" rather a little smoother, more modern and almost humbuckerish. While you'll probably notice the pups in the American standard to be a little snappier and "rawer."
