hi i was wondering if the stories i have read are true, i just picked up a 1992 mim strat, i was read that most of these early made in mexico strats are made with all usa parts ,even the bodies have fairly good alder, and that there were also assembled by us and mexican employees as well ,this guitar is in awesome shape and actually plays way better than a new american standard, in my opinion, and the best part of it all was i got it for 200 can in a local pawn shop with a hardcase included, i'm not sure if they knew what they had, can anyone confirm if any of these rumours are true about the usa parts on these? oh yeah the serial # on it is MN2052797

Don't buy in to all of the hate when it comes to those early MIMs. I had a 1991 standard and it played nice. At one point, a friends dad wanted to swap me his MIA for it. The only problems that I had were with the electronics.
For $200 you got a good deal!

Any pics?

Maybe "hate" is a harsh word... There are a some people that would look down on the Mexican Strats.

I hear MIMs from early to mid 90s are the best. They can really sing. Hard to tell the diff between them and an American.
