Play both the American Deluxe Stratocaster and the American Deluxe Telecaster. You will get a good variety of tones on each guitar and then you can pick the one with the tones you like the best for those music styles. You really cant go wrong with either.

Play as many guitars in your price range even if it is the same model, each guitar is a little different. Play with and without the amp on, with distortion and without distortion to make sure you have a winner. Find the one right for you...the guitar will let you know which one is yours.
