HI, My Name is Sanjay and Im truly interested in purchasing a brand new Fender American Delux Stratocaster. Model: 010-1200 Montego Black Maple. I play alternative Rock, Soft Rock, Country and a little bit of pop. Will some one guide me on this buy. Is this a good buy and does this guitar deliver required sound/tone for my kind of music. I currently use a washburn all electric and and Yamaha Acoustic Electric. I've never had a fender and its been an all time dream of owning a fender.
Thanks
Sanjay

This is a good time to buy if you're talking about buying new. After a large price increase Fender has eased prices back down, and I think they are still running the $100 rebate offer.

If you're buying used I can't advise you.

Welcome!

To answer your question, yes, a Stratocaster does deliver all the tones you require for your stylings. Stratocasters have been doing the same for me extremely well for the last 42 years.

I just went thru this myself - I'll relay the advise that everyone here, and my instructor gave me. Go and play as many as you can - they will all have their own character. I was told to play unplugged first - this will help you concentrate on the playability, intonation, setup and general feel. Once the right strat finds you, then plug it in and focus on its ability to deliver the sound you want. Unless youre playing polka's or some other wierd material chances are it will give you what you want. Not a plug here or anything, but most "Guitar Centers" or for sure Dave's Guitar shop in Lacresse WI have tons of them to play.

The American Deluxe is probably one of if not the best production Stratocaster that Fender makes. In my opinion it is a much better specification and sounding than the American Std. which in and of itself is a very nice guitar.I would that that with the SCN pickups and S1 system that this axe should suit your needs.cheers

+1 -- I agree with that. Also, a Deluxe gets a better wood selection. Get a burst to show it off.

The American Deluxe Statocaster is a truly excellent istrument which can likely pay any type of music possible from an electric guitar.

Play as many guitars as you can and make your own educated decision. Try to use the same amp model if possible to minimize variables.

You mean like this one???

LOVE it! All kinds of good tone, feels great, plays great, and nice 'extras'/features that I think make getting the deluxe model worth it. My favorite store had one that sounded good and I couldn't just resist (I get a good discount).

I guess I have a thing for black, as I loved this model when I 1st saw pics in the fender catalog. I have since seen another deluxe w/a finish (dlx Ash w/cherry burst?) I thought was REALLY nice (less boring, quite pretty actually, seemed to be MUCH better looking/more colorful then that finish as shown in 'Products' pics??). Anyway, when I look at mine I find I still love the...classic simple & clean looks, and there IS a bit of gold fleck in the black finish.

I think you would be very satisfied if you got one at a decent price.

I will go against the grain here. If you want varied styles of different tones to fit any playing style, I would check out the VG strat. You can still find them at your local GC for less than $1000. I have a american strat deluxe and a VG strat and IMHO, the VG is a better choice as far as using one guitar for many different functions. You have a strat sound, a tele sound, a guitar with humbucker sound, an acoustic guitar sound, a 12 string guitar and even a resonator guitar sound all in one package. OH did I mention 5 or 6 different tunings??? I may also add a baritone guitar sound.

It is top of the line in the American Division which is why you find it where it is in the products section here. As noted above....tremendous versatility in voicings. Play both the Modern C and V-neck versions. See which you prefer.

Go for it!!

Just bought one myself, as did wingman, but not our first Stratocasters. And remember, the guitar is out of production. Not an issue for me, but may be for the OP. In this case, the Deluxe would be a good place to start.

The Stratocaster is an EXTREMELY versatile instrument. I never had a Deluxe, I play an American Standard and love it. I feel sure this would be a good choice for you.
