Seller provides one fuzzy photo for evidence? Impossible to say a thing about this guitar.

Hi Blertles: from those fuzzy photos, no.

But I like this, from his description:

Ebay seller wrote:
Note This is a custom Built Guitar Built at My workshop

In other words, it's a partsacaster he put together on his kitchen table. Nothing wrong with that: he says it's an American neck on a Mexican body. Though the trussrod entry maybe looks like a black plastic MIM one, not a wooden MIA job - can't be sure from the grainy shot, though.

All of which makes the price look steep in my eyes, but that's between you and your bank account...

Cheers - C

What, no strap buttons? Are those extra?

I say pass.

Blertles as someone who buys a lot of guitars on ebay I will give you a lil buying advice. Ask the seller a lot of questions-are there any dents, dings, scratches or buckle rash. Then ask if the guitar is all original or has it been modded in anyway and stay away from anything that does not give clear photos. I have 9 guitars I own from ebay and have only been burnt once and it was because the photos were not sharp and the guitar was black. I asked all the questions I normally do twice and was told with 10 being walking out the door of the store the guitar was a 9. Well when it came it had 8 dents and dings, after 3 nice emails stating lets be gentlemen and exchange money and guitar and no reply I send not so nice ones then was left no choice but to put in a dispute with paypal then I got the so sorry I was out of town email but you did not have to get nasty my money was refunded. You might think I am joking but I would of went from Bklyn to West Virginia in two more days and been on his porch as he was just trying to get over. But that is not the norm as most people do great buisness but you want to try to avoid guys who just sell guitars as they are going to mention every microscopic detail but you are going to pay top dollar and the whole point is to get a good bargain.Just be patient as there are a lot of them out there and pass when it dont feel right.

Bingo!!! the decals ARE fake- I had a hunch about that. The price is way too unreasonable for that too. I would feel like an idiot if I even paid half the price I think.

Hey thanks for the advice straycat- good to get feedback from you. I hope you all enjoy your weekends :)

The other thing funny about the neck is the spacing of the 12th fret dot markers. They look too wide.

The only thing that seems Fender-MIA on this entire guitar is the neck plate. Regarding the neck, let's see ... 22 frets, no string trees, black truss rod ring. The best case seems to be that neck may be a Mighty Mite. Or it could be worse ... some non-Fender-licensed anything neck. This guitar would be MUCH more worthwhile - IMO - if it had the original neck that came with that MIM body. Then, it'd be something like a "MIM Std with SCN & S1 upgrades". That plus it has an MIA neckplate and the nice pickguard make it worth a good $500 US. But with a non-Fender OEM neck, this guitar is worth (at best) $200-300. I will feel sorry for anyone who pays $1200 for it... (I wonder how much is $1200 AU in ISD?)

Hi 01GT eibach: the wide spacing of the 12th fret dots that Orville noticed coupled with 22 frets certainly makes the neck look like one on this page:

http://www.mightymite.com/necks/index.html

However. I'm no expert on that company but the couple of Mighty Mite necks I know up close have a wood trussrod insert, not the black plastic. Just on a point of information, do you - or anyone else - happen to know whether Mighty Mite use black plastic too?

Out of curiosity I've been quietly trying to source the neck - and the black plastic is my stumbling block...

Cheers - C

Yes, they do. My project Strat has a Might Mite neck that has (just like a MIM) black truss-rod ring. Also, it's a great neck...

Excellent - thank you! Information stored for the future: it's so much more convincing yelling "fake" if we can show what something is, as well as what it isn't...

Cheers - C

I will back this up, a friend used an MM neck(on his partscaster,), and it too had the black truss-rod ring. it was also an excellent neck, until his girlfriend used it to voice her displeasure at one of our 3 AM jam sessions.

Ooh just noticed this:

that auction wrote:
Neck Fender Lic. MM2902V. 9.5Radius Soft V medium Jumbo 22 Fretts (Clapton Style) Made in USA. 2009 Neck Tilt adjustment fender style

That is definitely Mighty Mite info MM2902V

so this guy is playing fast and loose with "authentic fender parts" by including lisenced parts in his definition.

It's probably a decent partscaster, but it is no where near worth the asking price.
