Hi guys,i just had my american srteat 06 60th edition prof setup.I gave them my settings & would like and my strings changed from the factory 9-42 3250L Super Bullets and told them to put on Fender 10-46 250R,Super250S.in other words there same string gauge but not the 250R Which are not super bullets, the are super250S.Would that realy make a diffrence in sound?.Also is it worth taking back and waiting againg for the guitar to be restrung. They have much work and would have to leave it again.Hope you understand, sorry if i made it sound confuseing. Thanks againg ahead for your help and support. You guys are great here, always gave me the correct info. The top picture are what i asked for,the bottom is what i recived.
Thanks,
Mark.

Looking at your images, the string guage is a little different which will require a re-intonation and possible a neck adjustment. If you do not know how to do this yourself, a good idea to take it in. I recommend you do learn. The instructions to do it are on this website and in the owner's manual that came with the guitar. It will save you some money in the long run.

If you are hesitant learning on an expensive guitar , buy a cheapie and learn on it.

Most definitely not the same string gauge. And if your guitar can accept bullets why not stay with bullets? I can't use bullets anymore since I installed an after market block.

Its not that that my strat can not use the bullets, iam haveing it setup to Robin Trower settings to try to achive that sound as close as i can, and the sound iam looking for is from his 1975 live album.Thats what he used at the time.He has changed several times sence then.He also uses a tely mex pick up i think in the bridge pickup, which i have not change.Just the strings and his action setup. My question was is there that much diffrence in the sound or tone between the 2 diffrent sets.I had it pro setup so it was intoneated the right way, besides i know how to set all that stuff.Ive had magor knee replacement surgery last month and been sick,so did not want to deal wit it.So anyones opinion on the string tone be diffrent between the 2 diffrent sets sets would be appreciated. Is is that much tone diffrence and is it worth going back and ask for what i requested?.I have 30 days to bring it back for adjustment if i wanted to.Be if no diffrence i can set them up anyway.I got the strat back yesterday and 2 hours of light off and on playing already threw off the tunning and intoneation, because i think he failed to pre strech the strings befour tunning & intonating the guitar.Hope the help explane my reasons behind this.
Thanks you Guys for the responces, hope to get more.
Thanks,
Mark,
Hannible.

Sorry to hear about the surgery and being sick. I also did not realize you may have already known how to do it yourself, I was just offering advise. Some new people to guitar just do not know how to do it. It sounds like you have been around for a while (playing). I have used 10's before, they do have a different feel, but I could not notice much of a difference in tone. I was also a lot younger back then, and less experienced. I do know it will make you have to use more strength to get you sounds to come out true.

I started with 8's, went to 10's, and now I am happy at 9's. I do prefer the nickel wound bullets over the sound of nickel plated steel bullets. Nickel plated sounds too bright, the nickel wounds have a more classic sound to me.

Sorry to hear that they did not pre-stretch your strings, but once they are stretched, you can tinker with the set-up to tune in the intonation dead on. The neck relief should not need much adjustment at all at this point.
