I just bought an all white and maple neck/fretboard strat. It's a 2006 and made in mexico - serial number starts MZ6157631.

It has been modified. It has a pearly white 3 ply pick guard.

It has two seymour duncan hot rails in the neck and middle and a seymour duncan pearly gates humbucker in the bridge.

It has a classic bridge

The truss rod has a black color insert in the maple.

I "think" it's a soft v neck but I only feel a v near the lower frets. By the time you get to the 2nd half of the neck you'd say it's a C.

Anyway, I've looked all over for a white strat with a maple neck fretboard that is MIM and I don't see any listed. I especially don't see one with a humbucker in routed for the bridge.

I was thinking this is maybe a modified Jimmy Vaughan but I do not see a signature on the back of the neck. I do see a 2006 silver emblem.

So what kind of strat is this? Did they ever have an MIM that has a maple fretboard in 2006 tha was made in Mexico in Ensenada (where the serial number indicates this was made) that had a humbucker in the bridge? I assume the guy just replaced the pickguard witht this model and didn't do any routing, but maybe they are all routed. Any help would be appreciated. Maybe the serial number tells us????

Hi BlueLightWas, welcome to the Forum.

I'm not quite understanding your doubts on this. There's a white HSS maple 'board Mexican Strat in the current catalog:

http://www.fender.com/products//search. ... 0144702380

And looking back it was there in the 2006 catalog too.

As you say, your guitar has had a mod or two, but underneath it's simply a MIM fat Strat - no?

Cheers - C

Thanks. I had found the maple neck Fat MIM to be discontinued on some sites in England and could not find any on musician's friend or on the fender site. But with your advice I kept looking and finally found them listed at Guitar Center. I think I have my answer. Thank you.

Good Lord, really? I just typed "Fender Standard HSS Stratocaster" into Google.co.uk and got more offers than I could shake a stick at. Here's one amongst dozens:
