When I was young everybody I knew used flat wound strings. Now it's just mostly jazz players.

Wryly amused thought on comment earlier, "...the dead sound of flats...."

Impresses this picker a more as a truism than personally experienced reality.

Surf is hardly a 'dead' sounding music. Fine quality flat 11s on a Jazzmaster or Strat or Jaguar through a Twin Reverb picking surf have enough treble to cut gemstones and sufficient mid and bass to pull wheelies with a freight locomotive.

Put some d'addario flatwound 10s on.

D buzz GONE! and sounds awesome.

I had an annoying buzz on my 72 Thinline semi-hollow and put on the same flats, buzz gone!

I can live w/flats on a few of my Fenders and I like the sound.

I own several strats and teles so it's good to have some variations
